VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: POP CHASER Japanese doujinshi edition!
🕑 Added 2021-01-08 14:01:00 +0000 UTCAs I work through my old CON SKETCHES folder for this Friday feature, stumbled across this fully inked and screentoned illo, which was a piece drawn for, I think, Kenichi Sonoda's Chosen Ame doujinshi. (A friend of mine was a regular contributor, hence my sporadic appearances in the long-running Comic-Market-sold doujin.)
This illo was a tribute to the episode Pop Chaser from the old hentai anime series Cream Lemon, which (IIRC) was done by the talented animators who would later move on to the rather more mainstream Project A-Ko.
I kinda-sorta homaged the design of lead heroine Rio for my Kubert-School-era cyberpunk project Livewire, but don't currently have access to the relevant files to show you.

I recently saw some kids on Twitter talking about how there was this thing where everybody used "lemon" as the tag for smut fanfic, and nobody knew why, it was just this weird old convention in the fanfic community...
