DISTRESSED DAMSELS: That Darn Shasti VINTAGE CON SKETCH edition!
🕑 Added 2021-01-06 14:01:01 +0000 UTCBehold, more early 90s DiD commissions featuring That Darn Shasti (click tag below for more sketches) bedamseling a hapless Dirty Pair.

I was using a photocopy of this sketch to do a test of the color markers that my Kubert School buddy Joe Rosas was using to produce the color guides for 1995's Dirty Pair: Fatal But Not Serious. (This during the pre-Photoshop era of comics coloring.)

And the B&W version. Note the nunchaku at lower right (types the fella who was alarmed to uncover a half-dozen different pairs of 'chucks when he cleaned up his long-time studio last year).

Yeahp, at one time I planned to do a Shasti/ Deirdre miniseries after Fatal But Not Serious. That, needless to say, didn't happen. (Title censored because it's actually a pretty good one; might use it elsewhere, someday.)

An amusing commission based on a very specific request from a (small-p) patron; for once, the DP get the best of That Darn Shasti! Best part of it is Kei's "Lloyd Bridges by the end of Airplane" facial expression, IMHO.
TOMORROW ON THIS HERE PATREON: More of my 1987 Dirty Pair pitch portfolio, this time with more actual comic pages.

Man, I have a soft spot for Shasti; I'll probably try and pick up a commission of her once such things are possible again, hopefully sometime before the actual 22nd century.

Damn, thats a very Major Kusanagi-esque looking Shasti there, would have loved to have seen that miniseries happen. Oh well
