Work stages on EMPOWERED vol.6's back cover illo of "Makro" from SUPERDIRTY JOBS
🕑 Added 2020-12-10 14:01:01 +0000 UTCFollowing up on last Thursday's work-stages post on the cover illustration for Empowered vol.6, here are most of the work stages for the volume's back-cover illo of Makro, host of the Empverse reality show Superdirty Jobs. Line art and color guide by me, final colors by the great studio Guru eFX, who have colored a whole bunch of pieces for me.
Couldn't find the illo's rough, so I scanned a relevant page from the bonus materials section of the out-of-print Empowered Deluxe vol.2, which showed Makro's initial male incarnation. (For the record, the paperback omnibus version of vol.2 is slated for release on May 12, 2021, though it will lack Deluxe's bonus materials.)

I like Makro. Super-hero fiction has so many reporters who need a hero, but there are scant few who are the hero. Clark Kent is an exception, but he's also my point. Makro's one of those parts of the Empverse that make it so much fun, different from traditional universes, and feels very authentic.
