DISTRESSED DAMSELS: When Housekeeping Drones Attack (again?)
🕑 Added 2020-08-19 13:15:59 +0000 UTCBehold, a three-page "DP DiD" story fragment from, I think, the early 2000s, judging by the character designs. A friend wanted a few pages of Dirty Pair's Yuri (his favorite) in distress, so I did a brief scene loosely adapted from a "real" DP plotline I'd worked up involving the Angels running afoul of a hotel's hacked "smart suite."
Note that a "real" DP story probably wouldn't have featured quite this much straight-up cheesecake imagery, but who knows?
Note also that I had also used a (very) similar scenario for another double-page spread montage commission a while back, but with That Darn Shasti in control of the hacked laundrybot. Rather than working back through an s-load of Wednesday DiD posts to find the earlier occasion I put those sketch sets up, I'll just tack 'em on here again. (I revisited the same commission again with 20-odd years between montage pieces, hence the notably different art styles.)
Whatever the era, it seems, the DP DiD Commissionverse version of Yuri was always doomed to have a tough time with repurposed laundrybots. (Perhaps she's subject to the the same pandimensional bondage curse as Empowered and Hushed Half-Elf?)

Among other things, I'm actually in the hotel security AI business, so thanks for giving Future Me ideas, thus meaning that Yuri's distress will be all your fault. My sincere apologies if this means you will have been beset by time-traveling Lovely Angels trying to set things right.

Let's consider the modern world of AI, even in its infancy when compared to that within Yuri's time. It's been proven a few times now that AI chatbots can easily be become racist, either through realtime troll interaction or through datasets that were created with systemic biases in place. Now imagine a world where there's a specific AI framework that's designed around being able to learn interactions, mannerisms, and colloquialisms by consuming media or just watching people. If someone could hack that system, replace its datasets with media heavily biased toward the damselification of a specific type of person, and then release that malware onto the 'net...why it might appear as if someone in high-tech society had been put under some kind of bondage curse when there was a perfectly rational explanation for it.

As a Doctor of Metaphysics(A hard-earned title; I had to pay the Universal Life Church $30), I always figured you were the sentient embodiment of the pandimensional bondage curse in question, distressing damsels throughout the multiverse. Also, what exactly are (again?)rybots? They sound cool.
