DISTRESSED DAMSELS: VINTAGE CON SKETCHES "garter-belty" edition!
🕑 Added 2020-07-15 13:01:03 +0000 UTCFor this week's Distressed Damsels post, I'm breaking out the ol' Vintage Con Sketches in the form of some late-90s commissioned DiD pieces featuring Dirty Pair's Kei & Yuri. More specifically, this is the costume and character-design iteration I've dubbed "the hot pants & garter belts version," developed because I had become really, really bored with all the DP sketches (DiD or otherwise) I was cranking out en masse at the time.
A few words:
As noted in previous "hot pants & garter belts" DP commissions seen here, this version of Kei & Yuri would almost certainly never have seen print, but did serve to at least partially allay my lack in interest in drawing the girls in pin-up illos again and again.
Ehh, some undeniable skeeviness ("A SLAVES 'R' US PRODUCT"?) to this set of sketches, but then again, these were never intended to be seen or disseminated beyond the fellas who commissioned 'em. (And I'd definitely prefer that you fine folks not disseminate 'em, either.)
As you might guess if you're a reader of my version of the DP, Kei is of course outraged that her acclaimed "Hypno-Butt" was rated a mere C+ by the "somatic evaluator" gear. Priorities, folks!
Most of these commissions were based on general and unspecified "draw Kei & Yuri in distress" requests, but I believe this is one of several pieces based on the "real DP" (well, the out-of-continuity, extraordinarily bondage-prone DP, anyway) running afoul of Kevin Sleet's "Kei & Yuri virtual harem" from1992's Dirty Pair: SimHell.
The skeeviness is very strong with this flogging-oriented "harem" one, gotta say—as are the very late-90s noses I was drawing on the ladies back then. A few years later I had to switch over to a completely different approach, one I've dubbed "minimal nasal indication."
This next SimHell-themed one has, I think, already been posted here, but I might as well include it in this post just in case I'm mistaken:
Note that the piece was drawn a few years later (as in, 2000) than the rest, which suggests that the "dandelion-hair Kei" iteration of the DP might actually have originated after the "hot pants & garter belts" version; not entirely sure about that point, though.

These are really cool. They definitely have a different/ more serious energy compared to your other DiD content.

I think the Somatic Evaluator's out of calibration, especially since, iirc, Kei and Yuri are supposed to have essentially identical somatotypes, and also because Kei is clearly hotter to anyone with working eyes. They need to go grab the Standard Reference Hottie out of storage and check. I suppose the whole scene could just be one of Kei's nightmares, though. Also, I figure you can probably pass "Slaves R Us" off as trenchant social commentary on factory conditions or something.
