DISTRESSED DAMSELS: "Sticky Situations," pt.6
🕑 Added 2020-06-24 13:00:03 +0000 UTCWith this week's post, we're continuing serialization of a 2003-ish commissioned DiD story featuring my iteration of Dirty Pair's Yuri that I've actually considered redoing as an Empowered episode, for reasons that will eventually become obvious.
You can check out the previous installment of this goofy narrative here — assuming I remember to update the correct link, that is.
(Perhaps I should point out that Yuri is canonically 19 years old, and definitely looks so in my version of the character, in response to the warning that's popped up again onscreen as I prep this post: "Patreon doesn't allow the featuring of seemingly underage characters in the context of adult content." Not sure if everyone's getting this warning, or just manga/anime-influenced artists...)
Howeva, a few words about the genesis of this story, starting out with the random con sketches that inspired it, starting below:
I can't recall if the commissioner from this 2000-ish con sketch above actually requested notoriously goofy Marvel supervillain Paste-Pot Pete (later renamed "the Trapster," disappointingly enough) victimizing the "hot pants & garter belts" version of Kei and Yuri, or if I decided to inflict ol' Pete on an unsuspecting fellow who just wanted a DP DiD piece.
Anyhoo, another longtime regular patron (though not yet a capitalized Patron) was amused by these sketches, and circa 2003 asked for a longer-form Paste-Pot Pete encounter of some sort. And lo, thus did the longest of all these commissioned, proto-Empowered comics begin— and even more amazing, this wound up being the only such narrative with a definitive conclusion. No, really!
Next Wednesday, Yuri's ordeal of distress not only continues but somehow grows even goofier, believe it or not.

So, a while back, I wrote a comment on a DiD post here speculating on the possibility that the easy damselry shown was actually deliberate "roleplaying", and I ended my comment with words to the effect of "Hey, they don't call them the NAME REDACTED BECAUSE I JUST HAD MY TEETH FIXED AND DON'T WANT TO REPEAT THE EXPERIENCE for nothing!" Well, a day or two after I posted that, I went off to a convention and managed to forget the mouth guard I wear at night to keep from grinding my teeth. I then had an extremely vivid dream where Kei appeared before me, looked me dead in the eye, smirked, and delivered three precise kicks to my jaw. That dream was so vivid that it caused my jaw to spasm in my sleep, which, since I'd forgotten my guard, promptly cracked one of my teeth. That tooth deteriorated painfully over the course of months, and I just managed to get it repaired at substantial expense(where, to add insult to injury, the local anesthetic failed to completely work despite four vials being used, and I quite acutely felt the drill the entire time). So, lesson learned: don't tempt fate.
