More Emp/Spooky/smilodon pages (plus all roughs) from EMPOWERED vol.12!
🕑 Added 2020-03-17 12:55:36 +0000 UTCFollowing up from the last bunch of Empowered vol.12 pages I posted here last month, enjoy a few more pages of Spooky discussing Emp's bondage curse, whilst so far notably failing to mention exactly who cursed her. (Also, I've attached pretty much every work-stage rough for each finished page.)
Also, enjoy the big cat's whiskers and loose strands of Emp's hair, which were inked on a separate overlay then inverted to white in Photoshop, a technique I've only now started using but really wish I'd thought of deploying before. (For the record, this "white-line overlay" concept has been possible long before Photoshop, as I think an issue of my second Dirty Pair miniseries features a text-based iteration of the technique.)
To be honest, as an artist I'm definitely getting sick of depicting this Very Significant Conversation, which will go on for at least another 10 or 15 pages. I'm probably going to put this scene on pause while I try to figure out another Empowered vol.12 scene or story that would interest me more.
While I'd like to do more commentary on these pages, time is short, so I'll have to post this scene without further blithering from yours truly.

I'm doubling up on the vintage con sketch posting this week, as Friday's post will likely be another set of non-damsel-y commissions from the days of yore.

You know, I like how this magical-operation is consistent with the magical operation of Spooky's "hotness" powers, where it kind of gels onto others nearby (only in this case, in reverse, to Emp). Just one of those little consistencies about the world-rules that make this universe so much fun.

Adam, excellent work as always. The picture of Emp being stretched out by the ropes, chains, and tape is my new favorite picture. Being able to see the rough sketches that created the final drawings is amazing. And I was gone a few days so I didn’t get to say it when it was posted, but thank you also for taking the time to do my art request!
