6-page "Emp & Spooky safari" preview from EMPOWERED vol.12 (with roughs)!

Hello there! Above is a 6-page preview of a scene from the upcoming Empowered vol.12 (no idea when that might be coming out, alas), with Empowered and Sistah Spooky (now with two arms!) embarked on an as-yet-unexplained safari. Spooky is delicately trying to convey to Emp that our heroine's effectively been cursed with bondage, though attentive readers might notice that she hasn't yet broached the topic of exactly who cursed Emp with bondage. (Gee, I wonder who that might be!)
I'm running too late this morning to write up detailed notes to accompany these pages, but here are a few words on 'em:
*Enjoy(?) my page roughs, folks! Only in the last few Empowered volumes have these prelims become tight enough to bother scanning; in earlier books, I did relatively loose roughs, then very tightly detailed H-lead underdrawings on the final page. However, tough to get much flexibility with H-lead sketching, so now I try to accomplish more in the initial rough stage.
*Note the white-line special FX overlay in page 4's Spooky close-up, which was done by scanning an inked overlay and adding it (inverted to white) in Photoshop. No idea why it's taken me so long to get around to doing this, but this approach certainly works better than all the white-out-rendered hair lines you can see in earlier pages. (The not-so-great white-out I use simply isn't very good at these sorts of tasks.)
* I soon began to second-guess my choice to draw a leopard-spotted smilodon but, well, I'm kinda stuck now. Also, TBH, I don't like the way the saber-toothed cat image worked out on the last page, but ehh, I'll get many more chances to do a better job of drawing him (or her) on future pages.
Anyhoo, hope you enjoyed this exclusive Patreon preview! For the record, this scene leads to a momentous decision on Emp's part later in the story. Huzzah!

So looking forward to this volume. I do wonder what Emp will think when she finds out it was Spooky (because she WILL eventually). Emp forgives a lot but that's a huge thing to forgive.

I hate to say it given I know how much work has already been done, but I was hoping Spooky would NOT get her arm back. It's really rare to see disabled characters in anything that are fine with being disabled and not defined by it.

Her arm is back! Also, I absolutely love the 3 beat panels where Emp sips on her bubble tea. Got a legit snort out of me.

That matter eventually gets addressed in this story (if I have time), as it becomes clear that both Spooky and (especially) Ninjette have wound up distressed due to being around Emp.

Though it’s partially hidden by her hat, here, she’s had this hairstyle since vol. 10; she regains her arm earlier in vol. 12; and Spooky can and does hover and/or fly all the time, hence her canonical indulgence in often impractical footwear.
