Hi Caitlan. I wanted to give you some praise on your ever developing writing style. Your analysis as always is spot on. But you have excelled recently at creating a less technical, more easy flowing style that is much easier to navigate. I particularly appreciated your developing complex humor..... "That player still might emerge (It could be Mathurin! It might be Walker! Or, Nesmith! Or, maybe even Sheppard!), and nothing might need to change at the trade deadline (remember, this team is barely even requiring clutch-time right now!); however, with the trade deadline only a few weeks away, the fact that the Pacers have so many options, without necessarily a solidified option, should at least be reason enough to keep their options open." I look forward to each new addition of your work. As always, your contributions are appreciated and admired.

That's basically how I ended things. I'm open to seeing how it goes in the playoffs, but also would be open to an (obvious) upgrade. Think the platoon approach will be more difficult to execute against a team like Boston -- unless they catch that team having multiple bad shooting games.

Caitlin Cooper

Would agree, the fact that Sheppard has gotten the nod this many time as late, despite being undersized, just seems telling as to that spot -- at least to me.

The SF position is definitely the least solidified on the roster. Open to seeing what Mathurin/Nesmith/Walker can do in the playoffs, but also would be open to pursuing an upgrade -- so long as the player was a very obvious upgrade.

That's the hope! Right now, when he's connected, I've generally liked him a lot more as an off-ball defender. When he doesn't poke the ball away or catch up from behind, the on-ball stuff can get dicey. Tremendous event creator, though.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope Walker is the long term solution. When his motor is running high, with his size, I'm not sure there is a better option for stronger guards or forwards. But his carelessness or maybe call it over eagerness has gotten the best of him. I love Shep but he is a bit undersized in some cases, his effort often helps him overcome this and the spark of the bench always helps. For now, defend by committee seems like the best option.

The reasons outlined above are the reason, along with some other offensive reasons, why I would look at trading Ben for a piece or two that might not be as talented but a better fit. He just doesn’t quite fit what this team needs. Really good offensive player just not what the Pacers need as currently constructed.

Jeff Hasser

With Shepherd's 3pt shooting finally coming around this year to match his continued strong effort level and defensive chops, him and Nesmith will probably be more likely to get those nods in crunch time, when the offense more likely will need to run through Pascal and Tyrese (and sometimes Nembhard) and requires stops on the other end. Obviously could be any of those guys mentioned, but that would be my guess.

Good work as always.ideally one would want a single player to fit the bill but could the team (at least for this season) go with the platoon approach? It's been working.
