if 3J could muster his brass cojones and hit 2-3 3's in a playoff game all bets are off though :)

Unlike most of the current roster, TJ's already proven his heart in a playoff win. Round 2, Sixers vs Boston 2018 playoffs. Gets almost no playing time in Game 1. 14 and 17 minutes next two games, all three are losses but TJ shows such heart in his playtime he gets the start Game 4, plays 39 minutes, earns some fans for life. (Some of us even became Pacers fans just to keep watching him play.) Saves the Sixers from a sweep. Game 5, TJ 38 minutes, they lose by 2. That was 6 years ago and his development as a player and especially as a teammate+role model has drastically improved. He'll play as much as he's needed but above all he's a teammate among teammates playing his heart out when he gets the shot or cheering his lungs out if he doesn't. Pacers already tried to bench him this year and then readjusted. And, most importantly, just like TJ can't sustain his style for a full game except once in a long while, Pacers' young team can't suddenly ramp up to starters playing even longer minutes without the TJ / second unit reprieve. The Pacers have made a name for themselves when a lot of players hit double-figures in a game. There is no lean-forward "okay now I'm focusing" mode most NBA players (especially young ones) can actually hit for the playoffs.

I'll be shocked if he contributes greatly to playoff wins. I love watching him, but his style could crush them when the rotations shrink.

TJ is a very creditable driver and passer that is hard to stop but predictable enough for guys to cut off. He can’t shoot from range but Nemhard can’t shoot from above the break (he’s 52% on corner 3s and 35% overall. I don’t know what he is ATB but it’s not good). TJ is simply a much better on ball play maker. You can only play the guys you have. You can’t be scared of playing the guys that produce bc they have a hole. I think if team needs a better offensive option TJ should play 25 mins and close even if he has a somewhat glaring hole on offense.
