Should the Pacers buddy up to protect Buddy Hield?

Nembhard is a better point of attack defender than Bruce in this scheme.

true and while Spicy P is an answer to larger forwards so Bruce was an answer to guards no one can stay in front of. the hunt for the weakest link will continue but it might have been nice to see one in each column :)

Hi Caitlin, what about the decision to get away from playing Myles down the stretch? I know its a game of matchups and you have to pick your poison sometimes, but Pacers fans who still have PTSD from Vogel benching Hibbert against the Heat in the ECF, are probably wondering why you wouldn't want to have your floor-spacing, paint-protecting "3rd best player" and best defensive disruptor riding the pine. I know Phoenix was playing small, but Myles has shown an ability to stick with some smaller players and cover a lot of ground. It will be interesting to see moving forward since Rick post-game said he is intrigued by the idea of playing big. Does that look like Myles, Siakam, and Walker all sharing the floor together maybe even with Nesmith and a point guard?

I liked Bruce, but his presence wasn't exactly fixing the problem when teams were targeting Haliburton. If the opponent is doing mismatch hunting, Bruce isn't going to be on-ball and Siakam has more length to stunt away from the ball and contest.

lurv me some spicy P but the hole trading B Brown left in this defense is big

Great stuff! To me this means that it will be especially difficult to play Haliburton and Hield together in closing lineups unless offense is desperately needed to overcome a late deficit. Although to be fair, the Suns have a uniquely talented offensive firepower that discourages help defense. I really like what Sheppard has shown on defense so far, at least when it comes to moving his feet. If his 3pt% can climb to above average with more NBA experience, he would be a quality (and cheaper) replacement for Hield if he ends up moving on to another team. Sheppard's finishing at the rim seems kind of rough right now, but I don't think that's crucial to what he can provide for the Pacer's needs.
