Battle Tyrese: Reviewing Pacers-Sixers Film
🕑 Added 2023-11-13 20:58:52 +0000 UTCAnd identifying possible adjustments for group play of the NBA's In-Season Tournament

Welcome to the film room! With the Pacers and Sixers currently in the middle of a back-to-back, it seemed timely to review the film from the first regular season match-up on Sunday with an eye for potential tweaks that both teams might make before group play of the NBA In-Season Tournament on Tuesday. Turns out, "Battle Tyrese" (between Haliburton and Maxey) was definitely worth a second look, especially when considering how to contain the downhill momentum of the pick-and-roll, as well as the glass.
Let's get into it!
Here are the relevant timestamps:
0:00 - Welcome to the film room!
1:30 - Appreciating players named Tyrese
3:00 - "Defending" empty ball screens
7:22 - How other teams *actually* defended empty ball screens
18:30 - Oof, the middle ball screens didn't go any better
22:22 - Someone played solid defense (REALLY!)
23:30 - Cross-matching Turner and Toppin
27:00 - Thank you and good-bye (Enjoy the game!)

How did I miss this?! Only seeing it now, as game two of the matchup is finishing.

Very happy you liked it! I'm not sure how frequent it will be, but I'm going to try to do more of these throughout the season, for sure.

Learned a whole lot here! Any chance you'll be doing weekly film rooms? We won't have back to backs like this every week but would love for this to be a running series on how Pacers change/adapt coverages for specific players/archetypes/offenses throughout the year.

That means a lot coming from you. Thanks!
