Unlike the reportedly stalled contract negotiations between the Pacers and Buddy Hield, Tony East and I continue to be in lockstep with our partnership to forge ahead with player previews. For this episode, we discussed what we termed as the small forward position and centered the conversation with the following format:
- role projection
- one big question
- best and worst case scenarios
As the highest paid player on the team, Bruce Brown seems like a shoo-in to start next season, but how much can he move the need for the Pacers on defense? Now that Hield's future with the team seems uncertain, will Aaron Nesmith or Jordan Nwora have a clearer path to playing time? We didn't have all of that information available to us at the time when we were scheduled to record, but we still went deep into the games of all three players. Enjoy!

Beware the sunk cost fallacy. Carlisle won’t care what anyone is paid or what their draft position was when making decisions about the starting lineup. Havlicek and Ginobili are all-time greats and yet were not in the starting lineup for years. There would be good reasons for Brown or Mathurin to come off the bench.
