After chatting about the back-up big rotation, Tony East and I joined forces once again to discuss the rookie season of Bennedict Mathurin, with me selecting one play, one number, and one over/under to summarize the year that was for him as well as what comes next. As always, to make it easier to follow along, the stats, lines, and clips are included below -- albeit with limited context to avoid spoiling the attached video. Also, for more on what changed for Mathurin after entering the starting lineup at the end of the season, feel free to go back and read my deep dive on observations from his present future.
One Play: screen navigation and court mapping
One Number: 26.0 -- pass percentage on drives after being inserted into the starting lineup over the final 11 games of the season, up from 18.1 percent, which ranks 139th among the 142 players who averaged at least five drives per game
One Over/Under: 33 -- projected conversion rate on unguarded catch-and-shoots
