Sorry to hear about the loss, my condolences! And I'm excited for the feature length FF IX video! I loved the sonic 3 movies myself aswell, plenty of times I found myself smiling just watching events unfold. My one issue was the use of Live and Learn. I didn't like that it kept cutting between that and the eggman debacle. I wish they'd made the two 2 wholes instead of alternating, so Live and Learn could play longer and my ADD didn't kick in.

Of course, you've seen Devil's Advocate. Frankly, it's the movie I've quoted the most, and I've quoted a lot of movies, so, I'm glad to see it get more love. That said, I want to propose a counterpoint to your comment about Gerald: it's pretty clear that the movie wasn't trying to make Gerald pitiable, simply because they wanted to give Eggman a redemption arc. They needed someone who was clearly more villainous than Eggman and, sadly, settled for making Gerald a worse person as a result. Also, "Knuckles became the Piccolo of the group." That's perfection.

Omg this video is amazing and most definitely worth the wait. I have a lot to say so I apologize in “advance” (yes that’s intentional) and I am not sure if Patreon has the same feature as YouTube does for timestamps. I will just say at the beginning middle and end of the video to keep track of everything. Also at the end of this probably too long comment on my opinion/feelings on the discord nothing too bad I promise. Beginning of the video. Holy hell guys Johnny did he broke the sonic fan curse and found a significant other! If he could do it there hope for everyone here. lol JK and I figured based on your bluesky post and livestreams that I could attend I known you had one and all I can congrats. Seriously man as someone who despise valentine’s Day with a burning passion for it being a corporate propaganda machine (also doesn’t hurt that I am very much single) to put too much pressure on those in relationships and gives single people depression for not being in a relationship. I am glad you found someone who is by your side. Also no as a sonic fan I am most definitely not ok to answer that question. Keanu as Shadow is definitely him putting a more deeper voice then normal. Still I enjoy that he at least trying to put on a performance that in my opinion is for probably the most layer character in the movie. Also shout out to my brother who in a conversation with my friends about the movie said that he believes that Keanu would be a good fit for the character. While me and my friends said that probably wasn’t the best pick glad I didn’t bet any money on that. Middle of the video. My opinion on Jim Carrey playing Gerald was ok. I love the jokes and how he played well off of himself however I do agree that he is probably the weakest villain we had for the movies so far. No I don’t count the buyer for the knuckles series since that is a series and not part of the main movies. I just didn’t feel as attached or feel any sympathy for him since we spend very little time before he had snap. I think in the movie it self most of the flashbacks with Maria and shadow Gerald was only seen in one and it’s the one where Maria die but I could be mistaken I haven’t seen the movie since premier night in December. If you ask me there is a reason for that though. However I will save that at the end of video. I am also glad they decided to deemphasize the human characters. Now I do believe some of the human characters should always play a role in the stories going forward but only a few. Still the actress that played the gun agent I know her as Jessica Jones from the Netflix marvel shows I felt was underutilized and I thought she was originally going to voice Rouge but I guess they didn’t want to pull the trigger on that yet. Near the end of the video. Honestly this movie is great and I hope they continue the story especially with Metal sonic and Amy joining the cast. Now about the Gerald point I was going to make I believe that rumor has it that Shadow will get his own movie. If I were to guess that probably where they will show those scenes that we needed to see. It makes sense at least for me because that is really important to shadow story not just his relationship with Maria but also his relationship with Gerald as well. Now for the last part of this comment. I understand the feeling on making sure those who don’t have discord are kept in the loop on what is going on. However I don’t see it necessary because A I believe most people here have discord or another means of seeing updates from you. Also B as someone who is part of the discord group aka the sub shack I am honestly not that active on it. I still see updates from it and that how I am kept informed but I am very intimidated by it. I am too scared to introduce and interact with anyone on there because I don’t feel like I belong there if that makes sense. I say that because I am a Patreon member and not someone who is part of your twitch community. I just don’t want people to think that I am someone better than them because I have Patreon and they don’t. I know that’s probably not true at all it’s just my anxiety speaking especially since last year was part of a nasty group of people that used me for their own benefits while spreading nasty and hateful rumors about me. It’s not an excuse I just don’t want people to get the wrong impression of me. Also another reason why I am not that active is because I am currently in college. Trying to get a bachelors in mechanical engineering and it’s been a very difficult process I am still committed to getting it done. Still makes me feel sad that I can’t participate in the livestreams as much as I want to for that reason. Not to say that’s your fault it’s just how I feel is all and there really isn’t nothing you can do about that even then. Still great video I hope you are doing well and very much looking forward to the final fantasy 9 video no matter how long that is.

Something like that should always take precedence; no matter what the reason, always continue to take all the time you want and need when it comes to your content. I would never in a million years want the cost of your wellbeing to be the price just to have something out quicker.

That Super Sonic/Super Shadow fight is the closest we have ever gotten (and probably will ever get) to a live-action Goku/Vegeta fight on the big screen. 😆

Apparently I'm out of the loop with Jim Carrey. John was shocked to see him back for a sequel since he allegedly doesn't like doing those... I didn't know that, so to me it was obvious that with Eggman back ofc Jim would HAVE to return.

I can see Sonic Movie 4 adapting not just Sonic CD but if they set up Metal Sonic to be the main villain, Heroes as well, complete with a Metal Madness/Overlord fight (And if that happens, PLEASE give us What I’m Made Of!) And if they emphasize and focus on time travel, I don’t it’ll just be in that movie. I can see a post-credits scene that introduces Silver the Hedgehog and plants the seeds for an ‘06 adaptation. Because as much of a piece of shit ‘06’s story was, that’s the one with the most potential for a film adaptation.

For me personally: Eggman vs. Gerald > Sonic vs. Shadow. My family and I were bopping our heads to Live and Learn but that fight was too funny for us. Speaking of, as someone whose also gone through a family loss of that calibur, my heart goes out to you and yours John.
