Wonderful review as always, John! It's never not an absolute treat to hear you talk about a turn-based RGP! Unfortunately for me my first exposer to VIII was through the mid-to late 2000s internet reviewer lens where this and X were the two biggest punching bags of the FF series. But thankfully I feel like I've matured (in a relative sense) past then and don't hate this game in sight anymore and now appreciate many aspects about this game, but I don't think this game is going to be for me. One of my favorite parts about games like RPGs is seeing my party grow throughout the journey, so on one hand how customizable the GF system is is right up my ally, but being encouraged not to fight and beat random encounters and only engage in the game's main gameplay feature for bosses only is a deal breaker for me personally. But at the same time I'm glad their are plenty of people who love and adore this game and I hope they keep on truckering to enjoy themselves with it!!!

I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish this game if it wasn't for the remaster. But I did it the simple way of 3x speed and sucking out the enemies juices for junctioning. I did not know triple traid allowed you for the game to break THAT much THAT early, holy f***

I've tried giving this game a shot and every time I just couldn't get far. This game just bores me. It's right up there with XV and XII in terms of this series specifically as games I've tried and they dont click with me.

See, I've been having a hard time wanting to try 8 again. My ex ruined my first impressions of it and I found it to be really confusing with the junction system and what not. And last night, my current gf was talking about 8 and giving me the option to try it with her. Can't believe THIS video came out after that conversation and I'm more interested in actually trying it.
