When Massaging her I also noted one shoulder was clicking and popping but the other was extremely tight.. so the focus of this was to ease these shoulder issues but also relax the back.... A back massage can provide several benefits when dealing with tight intercostal muscles (the muscles between your ribs) and clicking shoulders: Relieves Tension in the Intercostals: Tight intercostal muscles can cause discomfort in the chest, back, and sides. A back massage can help loosen these muscles, reducing tension and pain, and improving the range of motion in your upper torso. Reduces Shoulder Clicking: Shoulder clicking can occur due to tight muscles or imbalances. A back massage can help relax the muscles around the shoulders, including the rotator cuff and upper back muscles, which may alleviate the clicking sound by improving muscle flexibility and reducing strain. Improves Posture: Tight intercostals and shoulder muscles can affect posture, leading to slouching or rounding of the shoulders. A back massage can help correct postural issues by releasing muscle tightness and encouraging better alignment, which can prevent the clicking and tightness from recurring. Increases Blood Flow: Massaging the back and shoulders stimulates circulation, which helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and promotes healing. This can help reduce stiffness and improve muscle recovery, making it easier for the muscles to function properly. Relieves Stress and Tension: Tension in the upper body can often be exacerbated by stress. A back massage promotes relaxation, helping to reduce overall muscle tension and alleviate discomfort caused by stress, which may be contributing to the clicking shoulders and tight intercostals. Enhances Flexibility: Stretching and manipulating the muscles during a back massage can help improve flexibility in both the back and shoulders. This could reduce tightness in the intercostal muscles and improve shoulder mobility, potentially addressing the clicking issue. Overall, a back massage targeting tight intercostals and shoulders can help improve comfort, function, and range of motion, making it an effective solution for these issues.
