I am consumed by rage
It festers, it burns
In my gut and in my throat
It aches, it throbs
In my heart and in my temple
I burn with wrath
It lingers, it remains
Surges when I least expect it
Resists my attempts to quench it
I sit on a fire of fury and hate
And though it burns,
It burns not me but for me
These are flames I’ve tended
This is a bonfire I’ve built
This is a heat I’ve come to rely on
This is a torch I’ve lit
To find and burn my hated foe
Worry not!
HE is truly deserving of it
Any and every ill I could serve him
His atrocities against me? I’ve lost count
Is my cause justice or Vengeance?
I care not!
I’ll pursue it to the very end.
Or rather, I would, if I could.
My hateful foe is beyond my grasp
Beyond anyone’s grasp even
I’d need to be a spectre destined
To join him in his place of torment
My cause, if anything, is futile
My hate and rage, all for naught
My flames of retribution, targetless
My time chasing him, wasted
I cannot even check to see
To know if he’s reaping
His richly deserved grain in hell
I will never lay hands on him
Nor will I sate my lust for revenge
My wrath and loathing cannot grace him
Nor will my spirit be appeased.
What then am I to do?
My mind understands, my heart does not
My soul cries foul, my spirit in pain
I cannot even despair
Hollowed am I by my own flame
So long have I been driven
By this flame of hate and rage
It is my only warmth
Tell me,
What do you do?
When the hate is all you know
When the flames of hate don’t die
And you have nothing to burn.
