So, I said that I wasn't going to write longer chapters anymore in the previous post, but this one is north of 24k words. However, this one was almost entirely written (though in dire need of editing) when I published the previous one... so does it really count? ;)

Ironically -- and for reasons I obviously can't discuss because, spoilers -- this entire arc with with the orcs, and also the ambush and following airship chase/fight is crucial to the main plot. I realize it's not obvious now, but it will be later. Pretty much everything in ADT is that way, since I don't like "filler" writing. There's very little that doesn't happen for a reason. (Think the portal stones from Elder Goman; they weren't used for a long time, but were crucial when they were.) Perhaps I should be more thoughtful in making sure the readers know that. Hmm... EDIT: though I should add that the orc/airship-fight arc is MUCH more crucial than the portal stones.

Very nice chapter. Quick but nice development of side stories. Lots of action and some character development. No lightning? One challenge for me is I’ve lost track of how this progresses the main plot. They seem like they were basically running away and not on a journey to somewhere. I guess the immediate plot is to find some solution to the orc problem. All that aside the chapter was a lot of fun.
