MONDAY BLOG - PLUS DELETED SCENE!

Well… we did gardening.
Over the past couple of years where we had Other Stuff going on, we kind of neglected it. It has become a jungle, and needs a lot of work to get it back to where it was. But... we made a good start, cutting it back and repairing the fence. I mention this with a degree of pride, because Sanja and I don’t find this practical sort of stuff easy – just the mental effort to get around to it is immense. But we did! We promised we’d do 20 minutes, and did about an hour, and got loads done. I only cut myself once.
When we get it finished, we need to apply a similar approach to fixing up the house; small bursts, to make the task seem less monumental.
LATEST VIDEO UPDATE
Our latest video has done reaaaaally badly. It has flatlined, essentially. We think we just put up too many long, heavy-ish, videos too close together.
Weirdly, we’re not deflated about it – it comes on the back of two videos that are continuing to do well, and it was an experiment to see if we could sustain a more frequent schedule, but clearly our audience don’t want that – at least not with the content we’re doing now. I’m going to edit the three parts into an omnibus at some point though, so we’ll get a second bit of the cherry.
Also… it was heavier than we’d have liked, in all honesty. The original concept was much more vlog-y – but because we changed our travel plans, and didn’t go to the original locations, I had to stitch it together in the edit with way more of the fact cutaways than I’d usually do. The first two versions, I was keeping more light moments in, but they didn’t work with the actual narrative of where it wanted to end up. We got a better video out of it, one I’m proud of, but it’s definitely atypical to what we’d normally do.
Up above is a short bit I cut out.
Anyway, we’re going to take a couple of weeks before the next one – but we shan’t neglect our Patrons!
You’ll get Corner Shop Corner this week, and we've a couple of other sofa-style chats, recorded right after we got our flat tire. We've been hesitating uploading them, because the lighting is FOUL - it's just pure vanity. But we'll get past it.
I’ve also got another short video almost ready to go – that one’s another experiment, in that it’s based around the cutaways we’ve been doing in our main videos; just voiceover and graphics. It’s about something I stumbled across while researching the next video, and it’s too weird and surreal to not mention, but it didn’t exactly fit anywhere else. I thought I’d see if short, five minute, vids would work in-between the bigger ones.
OBVIOUS DREAM
In other news… I had the most on-the-nose dream last night. Me and Gannon were doing a Digi Live, and I’d decided not to have Beanus there, but the show was going badly… so I asked Gannon to hold the fort while I ran out to get my costume. Unfortunately, on the way back I literally shit myself, and by the time I got back loads of people had left. Afterwards, Gannon was doing a brilliant job working the crowd – because most of the audience still there had come to see him, and I was surplus to requirements.
Yeah, not exactly subtle, subconscious…
At the minute, the Beanus Live idea is on hold. Harrow Arts are booked up, and we've struggled to find another suitable location, which ticks the same boxes. We've had some other thoughts about ways to get the community together, so watch this space.
Right. Need to catch up on day job stuff. We'll see some of you on Thursday for Biffo's Brain, and I'll update you on everything else later this week.

Talking about Sanja being a 'red in the bed' reminds me of a few years ago when there was the running joke about her being a white supremacist 😅😅😅
💀👍DAN
I’ve been loving your more ‘serious’ stuff, it has been eye opening in a way more impactful coming from yours two perspective 👍 Having said that, I’m always here for the nonsense of Beanus, so set the date and I’m there! 🤡

The news about your gardening sounds like it could have been me writing it! It took me back to a couple of weeks ago where I thought that it would be nice to restore "some" pride in my garden, and good to be able to actually use the washing line again.... Though the latter needs properly sorting out... I don't know just how many degrees it tilts by, but it reminds me of those god-awful waltzer "amusement" rides when I try to spin it around! Anyway, I think maybe we both stumbled upon the best motivating tactic - agree to do a bit and then get somewhat carried away! Sorry to hear about that dream (and of course what one of your cats has been/is going through)... on a lighter note, I was wondering if that "bonus horse picture" from Saturday's blog was one of the recent "neigh sayers" in the YouTube comments? So, at least you wouldn't come up with a joke like that, eh? :D Thanks for sharing that deleted clip - yes, trying to fit that into the last episode had to be a bit of a dilemma given the tone, but it is a great clip for sure. Have a good week all and see you on Thursday.

Yikes! 😅

If you ever find the need to 'get out' of gardening duties, I can personally recommend sticking a spade into a tree root. The resultant shattered wrist and couple of months of arm in a cast is the perfect excuse! 😖

Oh we totally get it! It's too much for us too at the minute! Definitely time for a bit of escapism...

Can’t beat a bit of gardening in this Spring weather. To be honest, I wasn’t in any rush to watch the latest video - it’s a heavy topic and one I hear about a lot (hard to escape it), and it was bound to be political. But… I did watch it yesterday and thought it was excellent! I love how you presented the animated sections and the music throughout was great. The whole video kept my attention. I think it’s a hard one to get people to watch right now but I’m sure people who watch it will appreciate it.
