You're using ideas well, but there needs to be a little expansion and abstraction as well. You made some pretty eerie angles and shots that conceptually do give a sense of unease. I love the shots where Jasper looks small. Like, imagine if the panel where he's peeking out of his room was given from behind himself, maybe from a perspective looming above head level. Something unseen, but seeing him.

Ghost still looks very huggable. I'd say study images that unsettle you, like really make your stomach sink, and see what can be adapted smoothly. Heck, using an entirely different style for the horror elements to contrast the cute might work better than developing a wholly scary style.
