they already had a camera operator in Utica to film the bits with Karen earlier, so he was probably nearby and alerted by the camera personnel in Scranton, I hope that by this made up stupid answer that you'll regain your sleep

The documentary camera crew is the main thing in this series that has always fascinated me. They duck down in cars, hide in bushes, zoom in from different rooms in the office, all kinds of incognito to capture candid moments… but, where did the Utica camera operator come from? You see the different angles from cameras mounted inside the car, but no one else besides Dwight, Jim, and Michael. Then they’re outside the car, filming Karen in the parking lot, then in the backseat with Jim telling them to get down. Did they follow the guys from Scranton and meet up with them in Utica? Was it the camera operator that was already there filming Karen in the beginning? Who was filming them on the highway after they threw Jim’s phone out of the window? Seriously, I’ve lost sleep over this shit.
