Night Cis π

This was very much my mood upon both falling asleep and waking. Yesterday, our little crew headed over to St Andrews - a lovely university town (which claims to be a city π) to check out the crumbling ruins of the cathedral and make an urgent raiding trip on the bookshops π We were lucky to have some local knowledge with us on the trip... a lovely lady whoβd studied in St Andrews some years ago. It quickly emerged that her student days had mainly been spent taking drugs, however, so the majority of the local knowledge proved to be the various squats sheβd lived in and where the mushroom dealers used to operate. She had been the Student Union President π
Afterwards is where I earned my good nightβs rest. It was my night to cook - and because itβs been a while since Iβve cooked for a larger group I was a little nervous. Fortunately all went well... following a struggle with an unfamiliar cooker, anyway π I went simple - fusilli with a bacon, mushroom, onion and cream sauce - and it had a fine reception! π I then comprehensively won a game of Scrabble and retired to bed feeling very good about myself... Itβs funny how pleasing and affirming such quotidian things can be. π
Anyway. another sleep pic tomorrow - Iβm already pretty certain which character it will be, since I wrote this post rather later than usual! You can probably guess too... since there are only 2 to go π

Ah! I do love peanut butter and chocolate together (although Iβm not sure my waistline does π) Last time I was in the US I became addicted to Reeses Pieces. Good idea! Itβs someone elseβs turn to make dinner tonight, but I shall step in at the end like a dessert hero π¦ΈββοΈ

The UK is very much a land of crumbling cathedrals and ruined monasteries - theres actually a very intense and spectral beauty about them... grass replacing the flagstones where congregations once knelt and the gravity defying bones of spires that once aspired to touch Heaven... as Ozzy might have said βlook upon my works, ye Mighty, and Despair!β

So I have the perfect dessert that you can make for your holiday gang. When I lived in Burntisland, I made this for the local cafe chef and she absolutely loved it. She started making it for the cafe, and it sold like crazy. She called them "Yankee Bars." They basically are peanut butter and chocolate desert bars.

Kind of sad that the cathedral is collapsing such as it is. Hopefully there's a good ending with it there. Somehow I think on my night to cook I would just abandon the exercise if I didn't have access to to a YouTube recipe, examine the local eateries, order what seems close enough to home cooking, serve it up and say...close enough.

Once a city; always a city, it would seem, even if the requisite cathedral has mostly crumbled :D I used to be an SU chairman and also had a good knowledge of London squats and mushroom-picking locations :)

Yes, I guessed correctly again!! I figured that Anna and Sam would follow each other and be towards the end, but Cis was the wild card I couldn't decide on. I figured she would either be at the very end by virtue of her differing status from the others, or right before Anna/Sam. In the end I went with before, and I continue to be correct :P No, I don't know why I'm taking this seriously, I'm probably just really bored lol

Sounds more useful than some of the Student Union Presidents I've had the misfortune of knowing. :P Also it's nice to see Cis let the carpet regrow!
