You should definitely make a tool for removing the pins without damaging either the pin or the soft jaw. Sortof like a plastic drift punch but maybe with something that slips over the steel to keep the punch aligned? A good use case for a 3d printed tool, I think

Absolutely Erik! Thank you again for sending them (and everything else π ) I have no doubt I'll be using them a lot. I wish I took matrix algebra at U. I had several classes that needed it for the coursework and just pieced together enough to get by. And then made the mistake of taking linear algebra my final semester π I don't really know where that idea came from. Sometimes things just pop in my head!

You would honestly have a faster result with that method π I spent SOO LONG milling those out! That's exactly what a binder of drawings is for. There when you're ready!

The way I've kind of looked at it is that if there are a lot of repetitive calculations to do, there's usually a way to do them with matricies. Would be worth just being familiar enough with how they are used

Masterful - just great. I was fabricating a part for a vintage car restoration this morning, decided my aluminum jaw covers might mar the finish, and had to dig out a set of lead pads - love the interchangeable insert design !

Oh Brandoon, you do spoil us π When you told me you actually used the gauge pins for a project already, I doubt I would've ever guessed what the project was, and yet, as always - I'm pleasantly surprised. As well as that, the shoutout definitely made my day π P.S. - the matrix algebra section gave me PTSD style flashbacks to my second year of university, so thanks for that π P.P.S. - the use of the square tool for the rouded corners in the boring head is absolutely brilliant. I think I might have to borrow that idea at some point.

Side note, i am returning home with final materials needed to complete the foundry. As fun as it looks to machine all those pockets, it just seems perfect for an attempt with a casting and machined to dimension. May be a while yet, like all the projects i have in my 'binder o' drawings' that largely say Inheritance Machining in the bottom right corner, but i will let you know how it goes.

Well, i now have a new subject to study in my spare time. Matrix algebra. Never heard of it, but i have a graphing calculator i bought on impulse thinking, surely this will come in handy someday. Thank you for giving me an excuse to call that thought true!

I was a while back gonna comment about maybe making some soft jaws. Never got around to it but here you are having made some really cool jaws. They are more useful in a manual machine shop and I am guessing youβll be getting a good bit of use out of them even if they likely wonβt pay off in time investment any time soon like the rounding fixture
