I've run into the cookie/biscuit problem before and come to a conclusion that I find satisfying. Cookie and biscuit are overlapping terms : there are a few kinds of biscuit that Americans likely wouldn't call cookies - mainly the less sweet digestives I think? Then there are cookies that are NOT biscuits, usually giant puffy things sometimes with candies and stuff on them. We have a word in Irish for biscuit (briosca) and it is a point of contention whether that is appropriate to use for this cookie non-biscuit category. The third category are things that are biscuits and cookies - the word used reflects just a dialect difference. The biscuit part of oreos definitely falls in this category, and I think whole oreos are also in this category. Let me know what you all think of this!

((oh god here we go again)) : I'm a pastry chef and baker, just want to say that the biscuit cookie paradigm you're aiming toward doesn't cover it, between madeleines to me at least closer to cake than biscuit, now imagine short bread and then it's relation to an oatmeal biscuit, (both are of a reasonable softness but with vastly different textures, where is the line, where does one draw biscuit and cookie, you could assume fro oatmeal having more American recipes it's cookie by virtue of there being more references of it in American circles but ultimately if that's the case then America get's dibs on naming everything and well fuck that, take for example biscotti which America has cast of as for strange coffee drinking people and is like a super biscuit... my god humans have a lot of biscuit textures, and that's before you factor in savoury crackers which I can point to at very least in Ireland being referenced as biscuits very consistently (no idea about America and the savoury biscuit trends)

finally got around to watching this video and i already commented on youtube but i thought i'd say something here! i know yall would probably reach out to someone more qualified if you were to actually make a video about the oreo barbies, but i collect (and customize!) dolls as a hobby and know a lot about them :] i would be more than happy to answer any questions yall might have or to just chat about the dolls. my collection isnt as big as many others (i've only got 12, excluding the 10-ish that I have waiting to be customized and the 2 that I am currently working on customizing), but i cherish it nonetheless and have done some restoration work on some of them that i'm very happy with. my oldest doll is an allan doll from 1963 which i got for cheap because some of his paint had rubbed off, but it was a very easy fix :-) but, yeah, i've only had this hobby for around 5 years now and don't have the money to have acquired a massive collection in that time, but regardless i would be more than happy to talk dolls with you.

My 16 year old daughter and 14 year old goblin child are forcing me to do this - you missed a milka. The 16 year old came back from budgens with a "choco" flavour oreo milka. It had no goo, only a layer of biscuit encased in milka. I had a little bit (before the child inhaled the whole thing as only a person with puberty metabolism can) and i actually think i like it more than the other oreo milka. I'm also normally only there for the goo and really like milka chocolate but actually the biscuit kind of balanced the sweetness of the chocolate and added sone crunch in quite a nice way. Sort of how oreo biscuits work with the goo. This is the most ridiculous comment i've ever left on someone's patreon but the spawn have asked me 4 seperate times to do this and may never leave me alone and let me eat my dinner if i don't. I'm sorry. I thought you reviewed plenty of oreo themed milka.

For 20:07, because I am an obnoxious knowledge sharer: Normal white chocolate is actually a little bit yellow-y! It becomes white when it oxidizes (which shouldn't affect flavor or texture). Also white chocolate is cocoa butter, sugar and milk! It's still chocolate because it has stuff from the cocoa plant, but it's also very different from milk/dark chocolate.

As for the cakester/ whoopie pie debate, both use dutch process cocoa, which is what gives the biscuit part of oreo that signature flavor: namely, the part harris likes least, and kat is most sensitive to. It’s that Good, Dusty Taste. That said, I think you may have enjoyed actual whoopie pies way more than the cakesters, as they are topped up with heaps of either marshmallow creme or creme made from whipped shortening and powdered sugar, depending on whose late aunt’s recipe you’re following

I vividly remember a no-bake Oreo "cake" mix we had in Germany many years ago. After mixing and combining the ingredients to resemble a sad Oreo, the thing was supposed to chill in the fridge until firm. At least that's what we all believed. No matter what you did, it would always remain a wet paste that you could never cut into pieces. You'd have to just eat the whole thing with a spoon. I don't know if anyone ever managed to get it to a solid state.

British neurodivergent linguistics and etymology enjoyer here: biscuit comes from the Latin for “twice baked/cooked”. It’s worth looking into the history of them as it’s so fascinating. They used to be made out of bread - either breadcrumbs made into a sweetened paste and baked again or bread that was I guess dipped in sugar and spices and then baked again. Someone on Reddit said American biscuits (which are basically just unsweetened scones) and British biscuits both come from the route of hardtack (I assume British scones are too as they’re the same as American biscuits but with butter instead of crisco) which would explain the naming crossover! The etymology and history of food is fascinating to me.

Okay, neurodivergent nomenclature liker here: in American colloquial usage, a "cookie" is sweet and a "biscuit" is savory. There are no other consistent criteria. Also, chocolate has two main components: cocoa solids and cocoa butter. Milk chocolate has milk added. White chocolate has milk and cocoa butter but no cocoa solids.

They bought out virtually all traditional 3d modeling tools and even closed some of them permanently which screwed over studios with 10+ years of experience in one package. I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, so here goes. The difference in melting (meltage?) is caused by different types of fat being used. Europe tends to use more cocoa-butter and milk-fat in their chocolate which has a lower melting point. European chocolate also has a higher mandated cacao content (30%) and usually uses less sugar but that’s more a taste thing.
