So I obviously didn't make the live patreon but I have to say a couple of things: 1 - Happy birthday Dr John, I have to agree with the other commentor that the alternative is much worse than a happy birthday. Celebrate life. You are amazing. 2 - Happy anniversary to both of you. Marriage is hard. You guys extend yourself a lot. Care for each other. Make yourselves number one. In the end it's the only thing that matters. I have been told not to mind for 32 years now and I wouldn't have it any other way. Good times and bad times. 3 - I had no idea that Morrissey is also a civil rights attorney. There are a lot of things I like about her boldness and being able to live up in a man's world, but I find it a little bit terrifying that she's a civil rights attorney and she buried evidence that stopped on another person civil rights. I do not care if he is a celebrity, that is 100% wrong in my opinion. I love you guys. Keep doing what you're doing. You are an amazing team.

Bryan saying it’s like People’s Court made me think of Kangaroo Court, in real time. Also, I was thinking exactly what Bonnie said: there are people being killed because they are holding a fake gun. There shouldn’t be real guns on sets. I hope it goes in that direction.

From shores far from your own in New Zealand and after a few decades in the film business I find the American gun culture perplexing. I am glad most seem to agree having an actor being held responsible for gun safety is not a great idea. Frankly the last person on set I would trust in that area would be the actors. The casualness of handling these exceptionally dangerous weapons and their accoutrements is eye openingly scary and appears to go beyond just a Wild West attitude from my point of view but I guess it’s relative and it was quite enlightening hearing you both say that it is on the more extreme side. Most of the film people I knew were quite anti gun and I think that was evident in the Hannah Gutierrez trial leading me to believe their lack of knowledge didn’t help this tragedy happen.

I have shot a revolver at the gun range multiple times and once you cock it, the trigger barely needs a touch to fire. He didn’t need to intend to shoot for it to go off.

I was thinking about this in terms of a film set and props. If an actor is playing a person who poisons someone and the prop person gives the actor real poison to use instead of faux poison, it feels clear to me that the prop person is at fault, not the actor who gave what they thought was faux poison.

This was not ordinary by any means. It was tough either way you sliced it. AB was doing a job. He was making a movie. It went horribly wrong. Live rounds and a loss of life. You can't say where the rounds came from. It wasn't done maliciously. It was a tragic accident. Lives were changed. A life was lost. You just can't reconcile it. How do you punish it? How do you point fingers? This is rough all the way around. No one wins.

Dr John, is a person with a personality disorder capable of learning from their mistakes. For example, if the prosecutor has a PD (not saying she does) would she be able to learn from her hubris in this case and decide not to overreach again.

Question: What did you guys make of Kari Morrissey saying she "appreciated Alec Baldwin's acting on SNL and also appreciated his politics"? I think things are complicated because multiple issues are involved. There is rich person/ celebrity privilege in this country. It is unfair. Alec Baldwin thinks the rules don’t apply to him and he often gets special treatment. Greek chorus Joe pointed that out. Also, this trial was about a different issue. It feels like it was about the first one. It makes me think of Nicole Brown Simpson and OJ Simpson. The unjust way the justice system habitually treats people of color, specifically Black people is a real issue that needs to be addressed. AND the unjust way the justice systems habitually treats victims of domestic violence is a real issue that needs to be addressed.
