The Multiple Shift (Practice)
🕑 Added 2025-07-01 21:47:41 +0000 UTCThe practice behind the multiple shift techniques. The "riffle force" multiple shift was invented by Norm Houghton, and is often referred to as a 'bluff' multiple shift in the literature.
PRACTICE DRILLS:
Since these are individual techniques related only in concept, just practice them each in isolation. I would recommend starting by controlling just 2 cards with a multiple shift. Then work up to 3, 4, and even 5 (but any more than that is unnecessary for magic tricks). You can also experiment with how the cards are inserted into the deck initially -- i.e. a riffle, a fan, a ribbon spread, or some other option.
