Chapter 18: Do it first
🕑 Added 2025-10-12 11:30:08 +0000 UTCConnors wasn't prepared to go find the Flash himself. He didn't have much ability to find people. Even looking for Harley Quinn in Gotham City was all up to waiting for the little madwoman to do something to get wind of her location. And with Flash Barry Allen's super speed, as long as he didn't want you to see him, you would probably never see him in your life.
He was going to reveal the news of "the destruction of the world" to Batman, who would then contact Barry Allen. As the absolute brain of the Justice League, Connors estimated that the man's information library contained all the superheroes' addresses, contact information, and countermeasures. Maybe even his own was inside.
"I want to confirm whether your words are true. If they are true, I will tell you 'Spider-Silk's' information. If they are false, there will be nothing more to say." Connors turned and left.
He had little interest in the pretty spy for the moment, but "Black Widow" Natasha was not happy and got up to follow him. "Don't you mind if I follow you?"
"It's okay," Connors waved his hand indifferently.
When he got out of the Iceberg Lounge, at the corner of a dark street in the early morning, a second before Natasha followed him out, he transformed from a tall and muscular figure into a homeless man lying on the roadside, begging.
His eyes stayed on the thighs in black stockings passing in front of him for a long time. After he had done what a tramp should have done, he threw away his borrowed clothes at will. The garment kindled a flame out of thin air, and when it landed on the ground it had burned to ashes, which were then spilled into the drain openings of the sewers on the ground.
He himself, once again dressed in his burgundy suit, went in the opposite direction.
As a professional spy, she had actually lost her target. Natasha further realized the horror of this man, but soon showed a confident smile. "You can use all kinds of means, but you can't detect this hair-like tracker, right?"
In her hand, she held a soft screen showing the tracker's red dot heading in her opposite direction. She folded the screen like paper and stuffed it into her black stockings. At a glance, you couldn't find any trace of this thing. She also chased in the direction of Connors.
On Connors's side, after walking some distance, he suddenly reacted.
"I just wanted to contact Mr. Wayne to get him to contact Barry the Flash to confirm whether what Natasha said was true… but I really don't know where Wayne Manor is." He really didn't know. He had been in Gotham City for less than a month, busy eating melons. He didn't even ask where this money-making boss lived.
Well, there was never a shortage of places to ask for news in Gotham.
The Ghostface Bar, the same place where he had encountered Harley Quinn, was where Connors finally returned after many days.
"Look who's coming," a sharp-eyed guest immediately discovered Connors, who was dressed no differently than before.
"Shh…" Two guys who had started shouting loudly after drinking a glass of inferior ale quickly lowered their voices.
"…Am I so scary? Isn't it just because you guys were drunk and crazy before, and I beat you up?" Connors looked at the fussing bunch and said, speechless.
It was okay if he didn't say this. When he said it, many people immediately recalled the first time they saw Connors: holding a wine glass in one hand and the provocateur's back neck in the other, while counting the number of letters in the words of the insult just spoken. For every letter, he had knocked the provocateur's head against the wall.
Since then, everyone had known that this was a ruthless character. Some even speculated that this was actually Batman in disguise.
"Don't be nervous. I love it so much here, going back to the bar is like going home," Connors soothed the crowd of drinkers. "I'll ask, who among you knows where the richest man in Gotham lives?"
Soon, a few drinkers who had never spoken anything insulting to him, and who would occasionally converse a few words, pieced together the address of Wayne Manor plainly.
Taking note of it in his mind, Connors stopped by the bar and asked for a beer.
"Patterson, you haven't been here for several days. Found some new fun?" the bartender quipped. The bartender was also the owner, and being able to open a bar in Gotham meant he had a little bit of strength and background, making him feel that he could talk to Connors as an equal.
Faced with the bartender's teasing, Connors didn't care either. After two sips of the beer in his hand, he clapped the bartender on the shoulder. "Yes, there is new fun. That's it."
The bartender followed Connors's gaze and looked outside, only to see a stunning beauty with a cascade of red hair heading this way. He was just about to make a joke about how a beautiful woman of this level would never come to his rough-hewn bar, but he saw the red-haired beauty walking in with a twist of her hips.
Gulp!
Everyone in the bar couldn't help but swallow their saliva, and many of them looked up and down without restraint.
"Con… eh?" The bartender turned his face and found that Connors had walked outside the bar without him knowing when. Instead of continuing to chase and chat, he looked at the red-haired beauty who had already walked to the bar.
"Beautiful miss, you're like a blooming poppy—"
Halfway through the bartender's words, he saw the beautiful woman's delicate palms reach out to his shoulder… and then she pinched up a long, slender red hair.
Natasha frowned and looked at the hair tracker, a little speechless. With a click in her ear, she found that it was Connors standing outside the bar door, locking it from the outside.
Just as she was about to carry a chair over to smash the door and chase Connors, seven or eight guys with big bellies and the smell of alcohol had already gathered around her. The bartender calmly reached under the bar and took out the shotgun he used to deter these men.
An hour later, no one was left standing in the bar, including the bartender. They all lay on their stomachs or on the ground, wailing in pain.
"Black Widow" Natasha sat at a table, lit up a cigarette, picked up the bartender's shotgun, and shot the bar door. The glass shattered. She threw the shotgun away; however, there was no sign of Connors outside.
Not only did she not know where Connors was, not even Connors himself did.
He was shamefully lost. Gotham is so big and the roads are so complicated, how can I find the location of Wayne Manor?
Standing in front of the most luxurious tall building he had ever seen, Connors looked at the sign. It did not say "Wayne Group," but "Andrew Hotel."
"Heh… I miss Google Maps," Connors sighed and prepared to go in and continue asking for directions.
Shayna's concert schedule was canceled, and even though everyone's ticket money had been fully refunded, it still caused dissatisfaction among many fans. To make up for it, Shayna, as the star singer, brought in Gotham's most famous trapeze family—"The Flying Graysons"—who would perform on stage tomorrow and the day after.
There was nothing wrong with the arrangement, but her hook-nosed agent didn't know what was going crazy and knocked on Shayna's door with roses in a suit and leather shoes in the middle of the night. With the ability to control ice and snow, she was naturally not worried about her own safety, but after opening the door, she was faced with a crazy expression of love from her agent, which made her distraught.
After going crazy with the man who didn't even know his name yesterday, she had started to feel disgusted with other people's contact without even realizing it. Instead, she missed the man who had given her instructions in her heart.
So, she prepared to go to the roof of the hotel and cool off with the cold wind.
Then, she saw Connors standing in front of the hotel with a helpless look on his face, and the hormones of Poison Ivy remaining in her body began to take effect.
Meanwhile, Connors, who had a spider-sense, also discovered the existence of the big star, Shayna, and his Green of All Things was able to feel her restlessness.
"Looks like it's my turn to make the first move…"
