But don't take my word for it. Google showed a few hits, the verge article seemed more complete to me. Or maybe ask patreon for clarification

I think it will effect current. It sounds like patreon is pushing creators to the subscribe model. People that subscribe and pay via ios are the impacted ones. Or, that is how I read the verge. But if a creator declines the subscribe model, no one with ios can sub until you pick the apple tax fee button.

Hmm, it also looks like the charge won't effect current Patreon subscribers, just people subscribing to other pages after the new fee take effect?

Actually, a different article makes it sound like patreon's resolution is exactly the first one above. I guess you could absorb it. But the easiest resolution is for ios people to open the web page and sub. https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/12/24218629/patreon-membership-ios-30-percent-apple-tax

It seems pretty dubious on patreon's side. They absolutely know who pays what ways. Why aren't they resolving this at the customer level: pay with Apple, and your sub is 1.30*price. Or, an option for a creator to absorb. Instead, they make it seem like they are oblivious to billing, which clearly can't be accurate

I can't see how people are paying, unfortunately, just the amount. I don't think there is a lot either, but I still want to get a rough estimate before deciding which option I select for Patreon to handle the payments.
