🕑 Added 2017-08-28 00:50:31 +0000 UTCHey everyone hows it going, Going to be explaining a little bit about how this project first started and how the idea evolved over time, some of the roadblocks involved and how we solved them.
So.... I first started with the concept of creating a fake theme park around september 2016, I just finished experimenting on a couple of games, the last one was project Reality and that stuff didn't really work out. I wanted to do something new and exciting. Had gathered some funds from the streams and doing some regular work outside the channel and I thought about investing in this bigger project.
I started creating some artwork for the park:
As you can see the initial idea for this was incredibly simple. It was going to be, they're stuck at the gate, the park looks great but they can't get in, they finally get in under the guise of being a "park reviewer" and everything turns out to be fake like a Hollywood set, prompting them to be pissed off.
I realized that as soon as they got into the park and saw that it was all fake, they would simply disconnect from the server and I would get no legitimate response.
So in order for them to stick around you had to create these artificial barriers where they get the feeling they are almost getting into the park but there's an obstacle in the way. An intercom that doesn't work or a haunted house ride they can't get out of, a hotel they get stuck in. etc etc.

For the hotel segment we hid 7 duplicate hotels underneath the map with teleport locations at random intervals to make it feel like the hotel was changing even though they were sent to exact duplicates.

In order to attract people to the server we had to have a minimum of at least 7 people online.
The first version of the park was hosted on a European server. The "quality" of most of the targets was quite bad, about 70% didn't have a microphone or they were foreign and didn't speak English.
In 6 hours of waiting you would get about 4 targets on a normal weekday, and 9 during the weekends.
Around November the main server received a DDOS attack and that meant that the virtual partition this server was running on lost all it's data. All the preset files & modifications were lost.
It was half way through recording footage for the haunted house segment and I decided to make a deal with two US server owners , we were now hosting on an American server meaning US-based targets, that's good for variety.
To process all the hours of footage (40/50 hours ) I had to create all kinds of new editing methods for myself. We're talking about color coding the segments and weaving all the different groups together to form a coherent structure. The park itself was incredibly dark as well so I had to manually change brightness/darkness in every single scene. Sufficed to say I learned a lot on this project.

This video is honestly genius in my opinion. To me, it's more than comedy (though I do find it hilarious), it's art. I think you have created a new kind of art, in the vain of performance art. Original, and well executed. I hope you keep making content, it fascinates me. Love your work.
This can even be an inspiration to people who make games. The whole thing has a similar feel to The Stanley Parable. If you go ahead and build a game, it might just be the next legend :()
So what you're saying is that you're the David Lynch of gaming? This was some twin peaks shit, and i loved it. I imagined it would be ALOT of work when i first saw the final result, but this is crazy like how much effort and dedication you put into this, this is art.

Hey hows it going Tom, yea basically a lot of testing and having the right people work alongside your project. People that are in the know of which ULX mods to install and how to implement things from the workshop, most importantly when doing stuff like this is hiring the right talent.

Pretty cool stuff. I use to play a lot of Gmod and I always wanted to teach myself how to make my own maps, but never got round to it. How did you learn? Do you know any good resources to learn from?
This is genius and dedication I've never seen from someone just to fuck with people. I love it!
