I think Hunter is right, the story could have done without the "ahh I hear the drumming I'm going insaaane aaaah". Like yea there's going to be mass chaos and people going nuts but literally there's a person in the story who goes insane before the craziness really starts while saying "I hear it I hear it". The insanity once the circumstances kick in are good, but the Lovecraftian "the sound drives you mad because it's a scary sound" could have been left out. Having it just be a "natural" thing in the universe and doing all the same stuff would be just fine.

I feel like an interesting aspect of this story could be that when the creature "smiles" it is not smiling for the sake of the humans. It is doing it immediately after "vomiting" or creating its new offspring and spreading its existence. So maybe it is only the ego of humanity that is assuming that the creature is imitating what it observed from humanity. To me, the creature "smiling" at the birth of its own children, which will go on to poison the earth, adds another layer of horror that's more impactful than its imitating humanity. Adds to the theme of the irrelevance of humanity too. Loved this story!

There is a popular AI theory that I am inclined to believe: The bulk of AI at it's conception was trained off of fanfiction websites. The em dashes being a huge factor. Anyone who has spent years writing/reading fanfiction and/or rping have been seeing em dashes for the better part of two or more decades now. I think it's important to stay diligent but there are more things than punctuation to look out for. In my opinion, speech patterns and rage/engagement bait are more more of a dead giveaway.

It's a pretty well-known fact that AI checkers falsely identify bodies of text as generated by AI to varying degrees—because LLM's scrape the way they speak from ~eeeeverything~ we've ever made online to learn, and feed themselves with it. Kinda like an incestuous, cannibalistic word blender! And even if it was generative, who cares?? Unless the authors admit to using AI, we will NEVER be able to vet these stories. I think y'all should at least make a reddit post or something to address the AI situation with this story. No one can definitively prove this is AI or not without more evidence, but if so many people on Reddit and YouTube are noticing and commenting on it, it deserves at least an official stance on whether AI generated content is allowed on your subreddits. I don't think you need to delete this episode or anything drastic, but at least give some insight on if you screen these for AI or plan to do so going forward. Personally, a lot of my writing uses things like em dashes, so I can understand the potential that the AI detectors are giving false positives. However, there is a large amount of this story that just feels very off, and not in a "amateur writing" sense. No one should harass the author and we don't 100% know if it's AI, but I think Creepcast itself should look into a way to vet these stories better and tell us what that method is. That way more people will be reassured that they're trying their best to weed out AI writing. Also, please look into why the mods of the reddit decided that banning everyone who talked about the potential this was AI was a good idea. I understand banning harassment, but a lot of people were just stating the weird AI tells the story had. Please do not let the subreddit turn into nosleep V2.

Immediately reminded me of Mammatus clouds, which genuinely creep me out. My dread for it just got amplified to a thousand thanks to this story. My only nitpick -- and it really isn't too bad -- is the "smile" the entity made. I'd like to think a cosmic being like that doesn't relish in the destruction. It's simply going through its regular notions. Then again, we're hearing from the perspective of survivors so I can just dismiss that as how people perceived the occurrence. Humans tend to anthropomorphize things so it checks out. Another banger. Love the show for continuously introducing me to a bunch of talented authors.

It seems like it was the only literary way for the characters to know the global effects of the anomaly. If I had one criticism, it would be the creature's face, especially the smile. I had a dream last night where I was standing by a river watching as a large object washed down the stream. I eventually see that its hunter floating along mumbling something. As I get closer he begins shouting “BRING BACK STRETCH AND FADE”. He then whispered it one last time before grabbing me by the throat which is when I woke up in a cold sweat.
