Similar premise: group of people caught in the woods after disaster, being hunted (Sasquatch in this case), told through the journal of a woman caught up in it. It's a novel, not something these guys would be able to cover on the podcast, and it's not as supernatural but it's pretty good.

This story does right what almost every other No Sleep story has down wrong so far. It doesn’t over explain to the point that things lose their horror edge, it doesn’t exposition dump, it doesn’t turn into an Avengers movie or SCP fan fiction by the end, it doesn’t lose its point halfway through, it doesn’t squander its potential, and it allows the people to act like normal, flawed, scared human beings instead of action heroes or Joss Whedon-esque quip machines. This story has given me a new sense of optimism that there might actually be a few good writers on reddit.

2:06:07 - Do you think that the Whistler's have some sort of deal with whatever the "real" monster is out there, that it's allowed to take groups but only if it leaves one survivor. Because if the Whistler's aren't powerful enough to kill it why would the real monster tolerate them helping the people its' trying to eat. Maybe the Whistler's agree to help the monster by tricking/trapping the group along the way - if the entity will let them "help" the one survivor to escape - ensuring that explorers and groups keep getting lured to the area by new pieces of folklore. It could be that the Whistler's are the reason the town was abandoned, scaring all the people away would essentially cut off the monster's primary source of food and force him to agree to that kind of arrangement.

CHARACTER CHARACTER CHARACTER. If you want people to care about your story, make them care about your characters FIRST. This story does a fucking excellent job of that. Even the more ridiculous things in this (them surviving in the woods for literal months for example) are completely eclipsed by the great character writing. So many of the bad stories the guys have read are literally just bad because the characters are fucking stupid. Top tier episode!!!!!!

I prefer stories where the monster is not fully revealed to the reader or understood by the characters, and this one did that so well. Ruth and Bill had such different and distinct voices, and such an immersive dynamic. I listened to most of this while mowing my lawn yesterday afternoon and kept fighting the urge to look over my shoulder at the open hill behind me, even in broad daylight, even in the suburbs. (It seems like any time I have to mow the lawn, that week’s creepcast episode is better than usual. This happened with Spire in the Woods and MHE as well)

Hey guys here's an idea, if I have to pause the show for a few hours to do something else, it shouldn't start all the fucking way over when I come back to it. Because I don't know what timestamp I was at in the story. I listen to this while I'm working. So because of this shitty system, now I have to remember and manually find exactly the specific detail being talked about at the time I got home and turned my car off. So that's awesome. You know, most people listen to podcasts when they can't watch videos. So playing video games that we have to watch isn't really worth the $5 a month, a lot of us don't have time for that. So bonus stories, interviews, things we can listen to without actually having to be looking at the phone or computer screen are great, and ad free main stories are too. But the video hosting sucks on here. I was at least nearly 2.5 hours in. And it just restarted on me. That shit sucks. I pay for this, I expect it to be better than YouTube. This specific instance may not be your fault but you're still charging for it. And a lot of us listen, not watch. I don't have time to watch you guys play a video game.

Day 29 of asking wendigoon to draw me with a cookie. Anyways. It’s been a while. The dog is still here. I’ve tried everything to get rid of it. I tried kicking it out of my apartment. It never fights back, just slowly walks out as I open the door, but every morning it’s back. Starring at me from the bottom of my bed. Calling the cops or animal control doesn’t help. They always tell me someone is on the way, but they never show up. One time I called about a breaking in, but no one showed up. I don’t know if someone is intercepting my calls, but I can’t find any record of my calls either. When I tell people about the dog, they said I’ve owned it for years. Showing pictures I’ve posted, trips we have gone with that dog. Whose name I’ve been told is Pooka. At one point I thought about killing it. I starred at the knife rack weighing my options. Looking for the dog, I saw it peeking around the corner at me. Drool dripped from its mouth and pooled on the floor. It was the first time I saw it show emotion. Anticipation. Almost daring me to reach for the knifes. It was the first time I truly realized how big the dog was, maybe around 120 pounds. I decided against it, and almost immediately it retreated behind the corner. Leaving a puddle of drool behind. I don’t feed it, or give it water. At one point out of curiosity I gave it some scrapes from my plate. It left the food on the floor. He never gets close to me. Far enough where I can’t reach him, but close enough to watch. It follows me every where through the apartment. I hear its paws scratching the floor, as I move room to room. It never follows me outside of the apartment. Always waiting for me to come back. I’ve tried staying at hotels or at a friend’s place, but after a couple of days. I’ll wake up to its eyes starring at me, glowing in the dark. Now I’ve started to get used to its presence, it dosn’t do anything to harm or bother me. The thing I hate the most is how comfortable I got around it. Even calling it Pooka sometimes. Accepting it as something I couldn’t change. This morning I woke up to coughing. Soon realizing it was coming from the dog. I turned on the light to see it gaging. Eventually throwing up some black ooze. Sitting in the middle of the dark liquid was a thumb. Perfectly preserved, cleanly sliced at the joint. The dog stopped coughing, and continued to stare at me. Licking its lips. Seemingly proud of what just happened. I need to find the business guy. Maybe he knows something.
