I viewed the story in many aspects as a descriptor for addiction: in the way he described his pleasure in a few of those lines reminded me of when someone is on opioids or heroine and that distinct feeling they get while being on it. And the demon that knew/was a part of all of his family members is the DNA that we get handed down to us at birth from our parents if they were also predisposed to addiction. When Wendigoon explains how the character eventually figured out that āHe is his own grandpaā, itās like the messaging here could be that he is literally repeating the same exact addictive behavior as his grandfather once exhibited or currently exhibits. This again was another fairly strong hint for me that the possible theme there is those genetically handed down behaviors which can so easily turn us into monsters when we find our addiction(s) or vice(s) of choice. The whole ābeing his own grandfatherā theme could be directly tied to how people with parents who have/had addiction often times will say, āIām never going to grow up to be like youā, because they see what it has done to their loved one and how much pain it caused themselves over timeāyet so many of us will still get entrapped by these real life demons and urges that we were āblessedā with at birth (the story starts seemingly innocent and religious). The unfortunate truth is that it (addiction) is made much easier for people to fall into when they carry these genes, like a real life curse upon their family bloodlines that has been forced to repeat and play out this generational cycle. There are some families that have addiction running within their family that spans very far back to even the greatest of great grandparents. Decades of genetic predispositionāthe curse/the demon(s)ābeing repeated and echoed throughout whole generations of people within their families. I could be 100% wrong, but that is some of what I was understanding and interpreting in this story. I really enjoyed the writing and vibe of this one! To me some of the greatest stories are ones that can be interpreted in numerous ways and all make complete sense. Awesome one guys!

I just want a story where the abominations are destroyed utterly okay, horror is great and all but it would be nice to see characters return to the horror and destroy it utterly. Like even if the guy had to eventually destroy his daughter before she became wholly unholy, that to me would be satisfying and still maintain an air of horror as he's lost everything... but so has the damn moth.

i wonder if this story was somehow commentary on the absence of a mother figure or only viewing women as breeders. Normally ppl with mommy issues go for ppl like their mom so the incest kinda makes sense. and typically issues like that are passed down generationally. could be a stretch though
