I think the problem I have with these chapters is that he’s not setting his rivals up to embarrass themselves at a key moment. The characters he is going up against are idiotic nobodies. We’ve got an overpowered kid who knows everything letting people we don’t care about shoot themselves in the foot when it would be faster to just put all of his information out at the beginning. Just feels incredibly petty

I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter! I had a great time writing it, and I hope I can keep delivering chapters that you’ll love just as much.

Thank you for your feedback! I’m just writing what I love to read, and face-slapping moments happen to be one of those elements. That said, if it helps, these occurrences aren’t too frequent in my story—at least not yet. I think the main issue might be that I featured face-slapping drama in two consecutive chapters. If they had been spaced out, it might not have felt as noticeable. But I completely understand your perspective—it’s an overused trope, and I get why it might not be as enjoyable for you. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts!

I'm sorry you feel that way—that was never my intention in portraying Alaric. As a new author, I may still be refining my skills, and I appreciate your perspective. Alaric is someone who treats people as they deserve—kind to the good, harsh to the bad. He doesn’t intentionally bring out the worst in others, nor does that make him a bad person. Regarding the idea of him "baiting" others, I see it differently. These individuals were already corrupt—frauds or arrogant pricks. Their downfall was the result of their own actions, not Alaric’s influence. Karma, at its core, is about actions and consequences, and they simply faced the repercussions of their own choices. That said, I regret that my writing made you feel this way, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

You think a good righteous would act this way? Come on, sure if he was set up to be like a kid, but he’s supposed to have been one of the most upstanding ppl who literally sacrificed himself for everyone else. That kind of person isn’t the same person who goes around bringing the worst out in people(which is what Alaric is doing by literally baiting them) he should be bringing the best out in them-but he obviously isn’t so from now on I am kinda viewing him as a pretty shitty person with mediocre karma rather then the good person he is said to be

small_brain_boy

It's not you that's being baited, it's the side characters being baited by Alaric to see how far a hole they will dig themselves.

Normally you’d be right, unfortunately in their current country the royalty has allowed the church to gain far too much power and influence. It’s gotten to the point that the church now has its own separate private police force and the priests think themselves the equals of nobility.

Very well written chapter! I found myself enjoying it immensely. I love seeing Alaric come into his own, so to speak, and the developing arc of his character. Keep up the good work!

Broseph

Really? I felt he was pretty reasonable and easy going in these past two chapters. Am I being baited?

Broseph

I'm not sure I believe you. Face slapping drama is one of life's cardinal pleasures. Also, Alaric has always been kept on the DL because of his complicated background. It is plausible for these conflicts to happen despite his status.

Letheed

Clearly. Also he’s clearly wearing upperclass garments, since he’s been recognized as a noble. And he’s followed by a personal guard who’s likely to be wearing the coat of arms of the count. Either of these alone should be enough than no one would give him shit other than a personal enemy of the count.

Melkyal

I'm not really a fan of how the visit to the shop and the church was written. I don't enjoy much having stubborn/evil people underestimating the MC only to get a slap when the MC obviously win. I don't know, I find it an overused trope and not particularly enjoyable.

Amazon Shopper

Ew, isn’t the mc supposed to be a good person with good karma? Bringing out the worst in others is not the mark of a good person
