At least when the church comes to wipe out his family and his father dies we won't feel so bad. No one feels sympathy to men who lose their temper while beating a kid and to top it off he's a man who can't keep his Johnson in his pants. The only question now is, is Edgar a witch? tftc

I get what you’re trying to do in this chapter but I don’t quite think you’ve pulled it off. It just seems unrealistic. I’m not trying to be rude so please don’t feel down, I enjoy the story. I’m just trying to share what felt off about this chapter to me. I think Alaric is being a bit of an arse here although it’s not out of character for him either. I’m not saying I think he’s an arse but he does tend to think he’s always right without really considering that someone else knows better. At least that’s the picture I’ve formed of him. He’s new to this world and to skills granted by the system. A system enforced oath could protect Alaric from being forced to give secrets away due to mental skills rather than physical brutality. It could well be a protective measure rather than a restriction. And the oath doesn’t need to say he can never tell anyone but be amended so he can tell others in certain situations. It also seems a bit short sighted of the count to tell a 12 year old child who while he can withstand a beating might well crack if death was truly threatened. Being his father Alaric no doubt knew deep down it wouldn’t go that far so all he has to do is hold out. No doubt due to being the main character Alaric would never give in even he believed he would die but his father doesn’t know that or that he has life experience from another life. So, yeah, I get what you were trying to do but it all rings a bit hollow to me.

For the other comments, In a world where kids are teleported into a magic gauntlet at 12 (doesn’t seem like there’s any measures to prevent death?) Are we surprised that a noble is trying to teach him a hard lesson about how dangerous the world is for those in power? Also shows that he regrets it when he got carried away. Maybe a few tweaks and more lines emphasizing that the count didn’t enjoy doing this but don’t think a rewrite is necessary at all.

i kinda agree with other commenters but also don't. We still don't know too much about the count, is he truly a hard/cold guy, who shows his care through indirect means? in that case he shouldnt shed a tear and instead have Edgar do the beating while watching quietly, then when alaric gets through it having a mix of regret and pride in alaric-as he would push/bottle up all the "weakness" emotions, seeing as he has been so cold to alaric previously this would make sense. The way you are writing him now makes him feel like someone who wants to care and is a "sweet and caring" guy, but is prevented due to politics. In that case he wouldn't do the torturing, instead he would send alaric away while shedding a tear in private or something like that, not ending up telling alaric the secret(then later one alaric can do something that proves his ability to keep his word/keep a secret, maybe surviving some torture and that leads the count to telling him). I think the reason why other commenters are frustrated is due to the mishmash of the 2 archetypes, with it not being very clear which the count is, with this chapter providing further confusion rather then clarity. -but in the end I don't think it would ever fit here to have the count doing the beating. He is a noble. I have lots of freinds who were beaten as kids(thankfully i wasn't), but from what they tell me, the true beatings were never from parents, but from like aunts or tutors who were given the green light from their parents. where parents would usually do lighter beatings as punishments, while the beatings from the other people could be for anything.

Naah, I think the Count encounter here needs a rewrite xD It's too sudden. Too random. Too weird. Even if you want to tell the point of him giving his child a lesson, it's very flat. The way it is told is without depth and it feels really out of character. No offense. Really. Just some neutral feedback about the scene. Please dont be down 🙈😊 Seemingly I am also not alone with that, and I can't imagine anyone saying that's very well written^^ Happens. That's why feedback is there

I already gave you my world. World -> word

TFTC. I am incredibly disappointed in the count and my view of him has gone way down. I like Alarics resilience though.

That was... unexpected. And while we haven't seen that much of the count, it still felt out of character.
