[Progress Report]: 21st of April

Hey everyone,
If you've been on the Discord lately, then you know that I've made a fairly large life choice recently.
You see, I've been working on Superheroes Suck since the start of 2019 with its official first release being towards the end of the that year right before the pandemic. I don't think I need to remind anyone that the pandemic was a... strange time. It was easy to work on the game when everything was closed down - there just wasn't much to do. That's changed. I've been working my day job as well as game development for the better part of three years now, both of which have been in serious competition of my time. Between the two, I easily log seventy to eighty hours a work and... I can't do it anymore.
I don't feel ashamed to admit that. I know that I've gone above and beyond what I set out to do all those years ago and feeling worn thin, under the circumstances, I think is understandable. It's also not an issue of willpower anymore. My physical health has been steadily deteriorating since the start of 2023 from just a... systemic neglect, I suppose. I don't really have time to take care of myself. The schedule has been so tight that I time my lunches even on my "days off" from my regular job. This is and has always been unsustainable and we're at the point where I can't push forward anymore without serious repercussions. Which is why...
...I have quit my regular job.
The financially responsible of you will no doubt see how much I make on Patreon and ask where I could possibly live that it amounts to a living wage. I... don't live anywhere cheap. Actually, I live in one of the most expensive places in the world with income relative to housing. Which is why I'm also moving back in with my mother. It's not just for the game. My mother lives alone without me so I was always thinking about going back.
I try not to talk about my personal life unless it affects the game (which is why you didn't hear about me moving before), and this will affect the game. I don't really know how... The mission is not to go from splitting thirty-five and thirty-five from two jobs and dumping seventy into one job. The goal is to get well and see development through to the Steam release I have planned sometime in 2025. I suspect that there will be a slight uptick in productivity simply by virtue of the fact that I don't "commute" anymore. In short, I will be developing Superheroes Suck one hundred percent as my focus until the Steam release next year. Fingers crossed it does well.

For those that made it this far, despite the move and all the other inconveniences about to take place, I am still committed to the deadline. There will be a channel opening in the Discord today where I will be taking ideas for a better UI in the game. I expect this update to be short, about four events, but I'll see if things don't improve. It's not like I'm moving somewhere unfamiliar.
