The patrols are up and running! It took some updating, but we're in full production. These events are quite taxing, both because they're large and because they require several custom assets and environments. New assets mean hours spent playing with the lighting and color work, whereas new environments means even more time setting up the lighting! Still, I quite like the result, and...
Well, it's patrols for the entire update. Patrols. Patrols and that poll event from the previous winner, meaning you'll be seeing a lot of Chrys this update!
Waiting to do patrol events all in a row like this makes these particular update cycles extremely taxing, but they're also the best way to keep the storytelling consistent. The ones I'm making right now would be available right after Chrys' latest event, which was quite a while ago! That said, the final bits of this patrol sequence will also require Valentina's latest story events. In short, you'll be getting all of these patrols rapidly one after another as they become available, but a new player would be seeing these spaced out as they complete Chrys' prior arc and Valentina's current one.
All of Superheroes Suck's major story moments are planned out like this, with a few "linchpin" events to keep progression on track. Basically, once you've completed all the requirements of a linchpin event, it opens up the progression for several characters. The last one was the Power Reveal event, but there have been several others in the past, like the conflict with Lovestruck and the very first patrol.
Anyway, it's going to be work on the patrols all next week. Wish me luck!
