Hello everyone,
It is the week before the power reveal, and it's implementation into the game is finished.
I still have a lot to do this week. It looks like we might get six events, but I'm going to try hard and push for the seventh so that the update doesn't feel short. Most of the development time was spent on the power reveal event which underwent several rewrites and reimaginings during the process.
Can I level with you all for a moment? I've been feeling really odd since I finished it.
The priority with which I develop Superheroes Suck has been based a lot on your feedback. The first major complaint I had for the game was a lack of direction, which I rectified with the hint system in the following update. Then there were the renders, which is when I adopted the new lighting system, and then the lack of animations, and then the number of animations. There was a period where the early game was considered too rough, and so I did revision work. After that point, the main critique I had was that the protagonist's powers were not obvious enough to the player to make this "feel" like a superhero game. Therefore, sometime over a year ago, I made the decision to have the power reveal event be the focus of the game's development. Because the power reveal event was tied to the main story, it also made the main story the focus of all development. I have been working toward that for over a year. Now it's finished.
I feel like I've won the marathon, even if there are laps to go.
Oh, and congratulations to Harper for winning the H-scene poll! There have been some new things I've wanted to try with the animations and I'll give them a go this week.
Anyway, that's enough rambling. Thank you for all the supportive messages you guys have sent me during this period. It means a lot and does help me push forward. I hope that you're all excited for the early build release next Sunday.

I'll be opening the dialogue on that after the power reveal comes out! Probably after the public release when people have had time to go through it all. I might send out a few messages on Discord and then I'll go over my plans for the Sandbox Overhaul.

It's very surreal. It feels almost like graduating high school! Your last day and everything. There's still a lot of narrative to progress on, so it's not like I'll be short on content any time soon.

It's been a huge focus. I guess it means you need to find the next big narrative focus? I think I know the feeling. It's like getting to new vegas for the first time in FOnv. And now that you're there you're not really sure where to go next
