A Question of Confidence
🕑 Added 2021-07-29 23:12:45 +0000 UTCI've sent out a surprising amount of auditions lately - well, surprising to me.
And I've heard nothing back.
This doesn't come as a surprise, really - you rarely hear back on these things, the etiquette has changed over the years for these things, and I roll with it.
But it always makes me question if I should just pack the whole thing in? Every once in a while, I get a reply where people tell me about picking their jaw up off the floor after hearing what I sent, so I sit and wonder how some people can adore what I do, and others disregard it entirely. I just don't have that same confidence, but I know that's my brain telling me that if I didn't hear back, that MUST mean I'm horrible at what I do, which probably isn't the case.
Sorry, you probably got excited to see an alert and thought it was an audio, and not me having a professional crisis.
This isn't me fishing for compliment - so please don't. I just wanted to show the page I was on mentally.
I feel like I've missed the boat on so many levels.

I think you're genuinely talented and that it's absolutely worth pursuing something you love and are passionate about. The people that listen to your work do so cause we think it's great. Try not to be too hard on yourself now (it's not an easy time to get a job) and keep working on your craft.

As an artist, I totally get you. Sometimes we have to just hand our work to our friends and ask them to remind us why we do it. We're with you.
