BRAINIAC: WHAT IS YOUR ANSWER.
EDWARD: Simple. The answer is Hector.
BRAINIAC: ANSWER IS… CORRECT.
EDWARD: Child’s play. Kelvin - enter code: Fries Delta 1-9-6-9.
KELVIN: CODE ACCEPTED. BEGINNING SECOND PHASE.
EDWARD: (beep of transmitter) Victor - come in.
VICTOR: Victor here.
EDWARD: (over radio) Just letting you know that I’m brilliant - second phase has begun. What are things looking like on your end?
VICTOR: Cold.
EDWARD: Are you not thrilled?
VICTOR: More concerned.
EDWARD: About what?
VICTOR: Temperature is reading at -67 degrees Fahrenheit and falling.
EDWARD: The coldest temperature ever recorded was -128 degrees Fahrenheit.
VICTOR: Volstok Station. I am aware. Something is not right here.
EDWARD: Aside from the giant portal to the arctic floating above Gotham?
VICTOR: I do not think it is the arctic. Scans are showing an unusually high amount of nitrogen and methane in the snow.
EDWARD: Then where do you think it is coming from?
VICTOR: There is no planet I know of that has snow containing nitrogen and methane, combined with an atmosphere similar to that of Earth.
EDWARD: Well. Shit.
VICTOR: Quite. I have reached city hall; update me as necessary.
EDWARD: 10-4. Riddler out.
LEONARD: My, my, Victor. Cutting it awfully fine, aren’t we?
VICTOR: I have never been in any haste to speak with you, Leonard. I do not see why that should change simply because Gotham is on the brink of an icy death.
LEONARD: Cold as ever, Victor.
VICTOR: Like a corpse in the snow.
VICTOR: A promise.
BULLET RICOCHET.
LEONARD: Dirty pool, Victor! I told you to come alone!
A BULLET PINGS OFF VICTOR’S SUIT.
VICTOR: Egh! Why would I bring backup to fire at me?
A CAR SWERVES IN.
OSWALD: Harvey, I saw someone on top of City Hall. If they show their face - shoot it off.
HARVEY COCKS HIS GUN.
HARVEY: Our pleasure.
OSWALD: Victor! What the bloody hell are you playing at?
VICTOR: Oswald.
OSWALD: Oswald? OSWALD?! That’s MAYOR COBBLEPOT to you, you absolute lunatic! What have you done to my city?!
VICTOR: I have done nothing.
OSWALD: The city grows colder by the minute, and I am to believe that Mr. Freeze is not personally responsible for this? Do I look like a fool to you?
VICTOR: It’s Coleridge. Leonard Coleridge.
OSWALD: Gyagh! I’ve enough lunatics to prepare for in this accursed city without accounting for the likes of Captain Fucking Cold! Is that who’s atop my City Hall?
VICTOR: Yes.
OSWALD: What the hell does he want?
VICTOR: Me.
OSWALD: Collaboration?
VICTOR: Retribution.
OSWALD: Well, I do hate to come between feuding parties, but I’ve got the national guard on the line with a clear line of sight, so if it’s all the same to you, I’m going to kill the bastard.
VICTOR: As much as it pains me to say so, you cannot kill him.
OSWALD: I am Oswald Friedrich Johann von Cobblepot - and I can do whatever I like.
VICTOR: If he dies, that portal will never close. I fear not even you could intimidate it shut.
OSWALD: Hmm. No, I am inclined to agree. End this, Victor, and let this become a jovial memory we speak of over brandy.
VICTOR: Cognac or Armagnac?
OSWALD: At this point, I’d drink a bloody Hennessy. Harvey! We’re leaving.
HARVEY: B..but no one’s been shot yet.
OSWALD: I’ll explain in the car. Now let’s go, before my balls freeze off.
THEY GET IN THE CAR AND LEAVE.
VICTOR: Leonard. Show yourself.
LEONARD: Called your friends off, have you?
VICTOR: You’ll wish I hadn’t. They would have given you a quick death.
LEONARD: Oh ho ho ho, and what will you give me?
VICTOR: An agonising return to your girlfriend’s frigid embrace.
LEONARD: HYAGH!
LEONARD FIRES AT VICTOR.
CUT TO EDWARD.
EDWARD: Alright, Brainiac - that’s one. What else have you got for me?
BRAINIAC: [ERROR. ERROR. CANNOT RESTORE TEXT.]
EDWARD: And the time starts… now. Hmm.
