Dr. Jonathan Crane, MD - Entry 033
🕑 Added 2017-11-01 22:00:01 +0000 UTC CRANE: ENTRY 033CRANE: Tell me about Anya.
LUCENZO: Anya, my love.
CRANE: Were you lovers?
LUCENZO: Not while she was in school, no. We knew it would be… frowned upon. We were so different in age.
CRANE: Admirable.
LUCENZO: Is it?
CRANE: Many lack the restraint.
LUCENZO: You saw that with <convinzione>. I wonder if there is a story there?
CRANE: My passions laid elsewhere.
LUCENZO: So I’ve read. But this was not just attraction – this was a connection. To see the world the same way as another… it was incredible.
CRANE: I imagine it would be.
LUCENZO: Was there nobody in your life, Dr. Crane? A kindred spirit?
CRANE: Tell me what happened after Anya graduated.
LUCENZO: And then we talk about you, si?
CRANE: That’s not how things work, Lucenzo.
LUCENZO: <Peccato> … *sigh* After school, Anya lived with me on the farm. We would spend hours, days, speaking of theories – we began our work on perfection. We would create perfection. Anya would be the first success.
CRANE: The first… perfection.
LUCENZO: Si, dottore.
CRANE: What did you do to her?
LUCENZO: The changes were small. She never liked her smile, so I gave her a new one. New hair… new eyes.
CRANE: You gave her… new… oh.
LUCENZO: When the outside was perfected, it was time to work inside. It was so precise. Complex. Bellissimo. For the first time, my butcher hands created art.
CRANE: Commendable, really. To have these results on your first attempt.
LUCENZO: Hahaha, no dottore. Anya was my first success… she was not my first attempt..
CRANE: How many time had you attempted this before?
LUCENZO: Hmm… who can saw? You lose track of the numbers as you go.
CRANE: Did Dr. Johannes know about this?
LUCENZO: He did not understand.
CRANE: That’s not what I asked. How have you been able to keep this a secret? You can’t just keep burying bodies, Lucenzo.
LUCENZO: Hahahaha, dottore – I don’t have to. Do you know, pigs will eat anything you lay before them? Other animals feed, yes, but pigs… pigs devour. There are no bodies, there will never be bodies, and I will always walk a free man.
CRANE: And no one’s ever come knocking on your door? No one’s gotten suspicious?
LUCENZO: You don’t watch the news, do you dottore?
CRANE: Why? Wait. You’re not currently under investigation, are you?
LUCENZO: …
CRANE: Lucenzo. You can’t be here.
LUCENZO: The great dottore Crane, is he afraid now?
CRANE: Fear is beyond me, but common sense is not. This could make me an accomplice, Lucenzo! If anyone saw us here, now…
EDWARD: (outside the door) I don’t care if he’s busy – no one reschedules me! JONATHAN! I… yeah, I can come back later.
CRANE: Yes, you can.
EDWARD: Hmmm… though you look familiar.
CRANE: Get out, Edward.
EDWARD: Now, now, is that any way to treat your guest?
LUCENZO: It’s no problem, dottore. I will take my leave.
CRANE: This isn’t finished, Lucenzo.
LUCENZO: I should hope not, dottore Crane. Ciao. (to Edward) Ciao.
EDWARD: Arrivederci, signore.
LUCENZO: Parli italiano?
EDWARD: Come un angelo.
LUCENZO: (chuckles) Bene. (leaves)
EDWARD: Well, he seemed nice – OOF! (CRANE shoves EDWARD against the wall)
CRANE: I will make one thing clear to you, Edward. I am in no mood.
EDWARD: Noted.
CRANE: Get out. NOW.(releases EDWARD)
EDWARD: Hmph. FINE. You were boring me, anyway. (leaves and closes the door)
CRANE: HYRAGH! (throws a drinking glass, breaking it)
