Special devlog!! [Goals for 2025] 🥂

As we did last year, we've decided to do a special little devlog compiling some data and setting out a number of general goals for the year.
2024 has been quite confusing in terms of numbers. At one point we thought our downloads and general game impact was down. Perhaps, because our social networks are more off than ever, but the data both in terms of itch followers, downloads and visits is totally the opposite. We have never had such a good year, with or without the reinforcement of social networks behind. We know that the growth curves of other teams are better and, in large part, because their promotional work in networks is much more effective than ours. But we are also aware that our players are loyal and recommend our game, which makes us grow slowly but very steadily.
We cannot make big promises in terms of strengthening our promotion because we lack the monetary and training resources to do so. What we can, however, is to commit ourselves to improve our games and work much harder to make them more attractive and interesting.
During this year we have managed to almost completely close the artbook and as soon as we think it is a propitious moment it will be put on sale. The itch page is almost completely set up, so it's just a matter of deciding when it will be released. For us this is a big step forward, as it has been on our to-do list for years.
Witch Tales
If there is one project that is always behind schedule, it is this one. Whenever we have had difficulties with the schedule we have decided to give up working on Witch rather than Chronicles. This has kept the main production afloat but not so much this other project.
During this year we have closed the script of the second story and it is in the engine, we have also started the programming of the mini-games linked to the main mechanics of the story. But if we talk about art, the progress on the revamp has been practically minimal. There are still pending backgrounds and CGs. Both objects and sprites have already been replaced and no more are required. But the work on art is still so strong that we aren't sure we will be able to close dates. Last year we felt much more optimistic and we hope to be more realistic this year.
On the other hand, we would also be interested in correcting the second story and if possible start the script of the third and last one. The forecasts are that the second will be the longest and most demanding, while the third will be lighter. So, it would not be unreasonable to see a breakthrough in terms of scripts.
Chronicles from 4.012
During this year there have been two major goals that we have tried to accomplish. The first is to increase the size of the episodes, which is completely true. Compared to the past, our chapters are longer and with more differentiated routes. Since chapter 10, many of the options are only offered to players who have chosen to follow one character or another.
The second objective has been to increase interactivity. Adding mini-games that make it more attractive and fun to play the episodes. We are also quite satisfied with this point. And, as far as possible, we will try to continue to increase the range of options. The room decoration mini-game was an idea that we have had in our heads for a long time and it gives us personal satisfaction to have been able to bring it to fruition.
On the other hand, we have a new goal for this year and that is to add improvements in accessibility, to help make the game easier to read for people with reduced vision, dyslexia or difficulties using peripherals. We find it important that our games are as inclusive as possible and take into account the reality of most people.
During this year we plan to release at least 3 new patches. For the first time, the arts we have left per patch are smaller. So we plan to make some improvements. There are practically no new backgrounds that we need until the end of the story and the sprites are modifications of the pre-existing ones. Although we admit that in terms of story the next chapters are the most challenging. Ideas will be brought to the table that will change the game board completely and that makes us incredibly panicky. We hope that all these crazy new ideas will be received with as much love and affection as they have been so far.

Tal y como hicimos el año pasado, hemos decidido hacer un pequeño devlog especial recopilando algunos datos y planteando una serie de metas generales para el año.
2024 ha sido bastante confuso en cuanto a las cifras. En un momento dado pensamos que nuestras descargas y la repercusión del juego en general estaba a la baja. Tal vez, porque nuestras redes sociales están más apagadas que nunca, pero los datos tanto de followers de itch, como de descargas y visitas es totalmente contrario. Nunca hemos tenido un año tan bueno, con o sin el refuerzo de las redes sociales detrás. Sabemos que las curvas de crecimiento de otros compañeros son mejores y, en gran parte, porque su trabajo de promoción en redes es mucho más efectivo que el nuestro. Pero también somos conscientes de que nuestros jugadores son fieles y recomiendan nuestro juego, lo que nos hace crecer de forma lenta pero muy constante.
No podemos hacer grandes promesas en cuanto a reforzar nuestra promoción porque carecemos de recursos tanto monetarios como formativos para hacerlo. Lo que sí podemos, es comprometernos a mejorar nuestros juegos y trabajar mucho más duro para que sean más atractivos e interesantes.
Durante este año hemos conseguido cerrar casi completamente el artbook y en cuanto creamos que es un momento propicio se pondrá a la venta. La página de itch está casi completamente montada, así que es solo cuestión de decidir cuándo será lanzado. Para nosotras es un gran paso adelante, dado que ha estado en nuestra lista de pendientes por años.
Witch Tales
Si hay un proyecto que siempre va retrasado es éste. Siempre que hemos tenido dificultades con el calendario hemos decidido renunciar a seguir trabajando en Witch antes que hacerlo en Chronicles. Lo que ha mantenido a flote la producción principal pero no tanto la de este otro proyecto.
Durante este año hemos cerrado el guión de la segunda historia y está en el motor, también hemos iniciado la programación de los minijuegos ligados a la mecánica principal de la historia. Pero si hablamos de artes, los avances en el revamp han sido prácticamente mínimos. Aún quedan fondos y CGs pendientes. Tanto objetos como sprites, han sido ya reemplazados y no se requieren más. Pero el trabajo en artes es aún tan fuerte que no estamos seguras de poder cerrar fechas. El año pasado nos sentimos mucho más optimistas y esperamos este año ser más realistas.
Por otro lado, también nos interesaría corregir la segunda historia y en la medida de lo posible iniciar el guión de la tercera y última. Las previsiones son que la segunda sea la más larga y exigente, mientras que la tercera sea más ligera. Así que, no sería descabellado ver un gran avance en cuanto a los guiones.
Chronicles from 4.012
Durante este año ha habido dos grandes metas que hemos intentado cumplir. La primera es aumentar el tamaño de los episodios, lo cual es completamente cierto. Frente al pasado, nuestros capítulos son más largos y con las rutas más diferenciadas. Desde el capítulo 10, muchas de las opciones solo se ofrecen a los jugadores que han elegido seguir a uno u otro personaje.
El segundo objetivo, ha sido ampliar la interactividad. Añadir minijuegos que hagan más atractivo y divertido jugar los episodios. También estamos bastante satisfechas con este punto. Y, en la medida de lo posible, trataremos de seguir aumentando el abanico de opciones. El minijuego de decoración de habitaciones era una idea que llevábamos mucho tiempo teniendo en nuestras cabezas y que nos da una satisfacción personal el haberlo podido sacar adelante.
Por otro lado, tenemos una nueva meta para este año y es añadir mejoras en la accesibilidad, para ayudar a que el juego sea más fácil de leer para personas con visión reducida, dislexia o dificultades para usar los periféricos. Nos parece importante que nuestros juegos sean lo más inclusivos posible y tengan en cuenta la realidad de la mayor parte de personas.
Durante este año planeamos sacar mínimo 3 nuevos parches. Por primera vez, las artes que nos quedan por parche son más reducidos. Así que nos planteamos hacer algunas mejoras. No hay prácticamente fondos nuevos que necesitemos hasta el final de la historia y los sprites son modificaciones de los preexistentes. Aunque admitimos que en cuanto a historia los siguientes capítulos son los más desafiantes. Se pondrán encima de la mesa ideas que cambiarán el tablero de juego por completo y eso nos da un pánico increíble. Esperamos que todas estas nuevas ideas locas sean recibidas con tanto amor y cariño como lo han sido hasta ahora.
