Hello everyone, this month we can be moderately optimistic, so we hope you will receive the good news with anticipation.
- Writing
Although the script is quite advanced, it's true that this episode will be longer than usual, so the forecasts we've made are probably more optimistic than they should be. If we have already surpassed 70% in a normal episode, surely, in this episode we haven't yet reached that goal. However, it will go into translation this month and will undoubtedly be finished.
On the subject of translation, one of the things we understand you must be most concerned about, we have some good news. We've selected someone to come in from episode 10.0 as part of the team. However, until it goes public and we have feedback from our beta reader, we won't know if we have indeed found a solution to the problem or if we have just postponed it.
On the other hand, we have another person working on improving the WT translation, which is also great news. We're aware that the translation wasn't very good and was done in a hurry. Looking for alternatives for CHR we came across a possible solution for WT. This person has been working on this script for more than a week already and we hope this will help us to get closer to an improved demo.
- Art
As you have already seen, we are actively working on the chapter and we already have a definite idea of the CGs that will be included. We can now say for sure that there will be six CGs. Some individual and some joint. Some automatic and some reserved to the route you decide to play. As we already told you this episode will be unique for the three routes. The joint illustrations will belong to: Hasiel and Joe, Kyeran and Akane and Pin and Zihel. On the other hand, the individual ones will be for: Maske, Ariel and Arael. So far, that's all we can tell you about this topic.
We've already explained that there will be no new expressions. There will be three backgrounds, one of which you have already seen in previous previews and two others which are obviously also related to the galleries of the underwater city. Finally there will be two new sprites / characters, one you already know as 'Dio' and the other one will be 'Anjali'. Both are inhabitants of the galleries.
- Programming
It is very likely that this month we will be able to find time to program the WT gallery, which already has a provisional sketch that you could see in the previous devlog.
Last month we also made some changes in the structure of the WT programming and this month we'll also make some non-appreciable changes in how the main character's avatar is programmed. All these modifications are related to the internal organisation of the code and/or translation problems (repetition of empty strings). These changes will not be noticeable to the player, but they will be noticeable to the mobility and order of the code for our own use.
- Other
Our focus this month is almost entirely on the production of episode 10 and preparing something for Christmas. We won't be making any progress this month on cover art, nor on WT art. All our resources are going to be focused solely on moving forward on 10.0, which is already a longer episode narratively and with much more visual resources than a normal episode.
However, this month the new Patreon tier will enter (finally).
So much for the December devlog, we hope you have a good holiday season and we'll see you next month.
Toxic Squad. ☠️
