Sometimes when the nightmares simply become unbearable I slip out of bed like a shadow. I walk in complete silence through the dark corridors of my small flat and think for hours. It was another way to keep me away from that building, the flames and the memories that still possessed me. When that happened I could feel the stinging on my skin, as if the scars had not yet closed and I needed to rub them until I could no longer feel them. Although staying away from the bed was a way to distance myself from the worst of it, intrusive thoughts came in waves, my stomach rumbled and my mind became a hotbed of thoughts. I usually managed to keep it at bay with work... Whether it was the guild's tasks or simple household chores, anything that kept me focused would stop my mind from wandering.
But now...
Now all I feel is guilt. A lot of it. For what I did and for what I obviously left undone. I've tried to make amends, to do things differently and become a completely different person. To bury under a mask that covers my shame what I was before. But sometimes I feel that nothing has really changed. A new form doesn't erase the original sin, and going back to relating to others I don't know if it's the best idea I've ever had...
I fear the day when my past or future decisions will take a heavy price on those I love the most. And while I know I am selfish and cowardly, I fear more for those who have welcomed me into their community as one of their own than for myself. I know that from a very young age there is something wrong with me, I can't explain where that feeling comes from or why I believe so strongly in it. But I do. How can I explain that the things that happen to me are not mere accidents, that everything I touch seems to wither instantly? As if some kind of energy envelops me and ruins everything around me, especially what makes me the happiest. Lately, I can't get Mia out of my head, it's as if I see her face again on the faces of everyone in the camp. A reminder that I'm pushing my luck.
What if... what happened to Akane is my fault? Even to this day I couldn't be sure. The day of the mine... Jordan's fall... All those things... Would they have happened if I was around? I want to tell someone, but no one would believe me. I wouldn't believe me.

Ahora solo siento culpabilidad. Mucha.
Todas esas cosas… ¿Habrían sucedido si yo estuviese cerca? Quiero contarselo a alguien, pero nadie me creería. Yo no me creería.
