The ones I got are just cheap ones as well. Linear rails (MGN) tend to be a lot better in their cheap versions than something like a supported round rail (SBR) or even unsupported (LM) ones. If you can spend a little extra, get genuine HIWIN from a trustworthy source.

This didn't make it into the Hangout (afair), but I'd go with stock Marlin as it's the more flexible of the two and should support the relevant Einsy features just as well.

Lots of questions this week ;-) I’m adding to the pile by asking some advice on linear rails. Your reaction to the E3D high end setup was priceless btw! :-) On the melt zone you teased the future cnc build with rails, so I’m wondering if you would be willing to share where you sourced your rails? It’s a jungle out there with different sources, and the Banggood ones I tried was crap ;-) I’m looking to use them on an DIY all metal cage/enclosed 3D printer with a Prusa i3 kinematics. Thanks!
Hi Tom, I've recently purchased the Ultimachine Einsy Rambo as an upgrade in my DIY Prusa(ish) style printer with an old RAMPS board. I'm wondering which firmware would be the best to use, Marlin or the Prusa firmware. I don't have any sort of probing for the bed levelling, and I'm not sure what other features I would get from the Trinamic drivers, like sensorles homing? What would you choose?
