ENG – Weekly devlog 13/09/24
🕑 Added 2024-09-13 14:35:55 +0000 UTCHello there, lovely patreons! 💖
How was your week? We hope it was as good as ours! We are still knee deep in work, but that won’t bring our mood down! Go go! 💪
Vera is still working in the English translation (the poor thing is working as fast as she can to avoid having to delay TYL’s update 😭 Please, send her some strength!). Right now, she has already translated around 35% of the new content. The progress is slow, but steady!
To help make the process a bit faster, we decided to start the playtesting phase too, even if it’s just in Spanish for now. Alma (me 😂) already did a full round of playtesting this week. We usually do the playtesting after the translation is complete, so we can playtest the game in both languages at the same time. But we were kinda eager to scratch things from our to-do list, as you can see hahaha
And let me tell you, she found a WHOLE BUNCH of things that needed to be fixed 🤣 That’s why playtesting is so important. We must make sure that every part of the code works as it should, revise every dialogue line and look out for typos and incoherences, test every one of the choices the player can make to check if they lead to the correct part of dialogue, etc. We even have to check if the character that’s typing or erasing a message matches with the character that actually sends the message afterwards, and make sure the time the character takes to type is a realistic one. And, sometimes, the player choices are so long that they don’t fit inside the box, so we need to rewrite them 😅
Playtesting takes a lot of time and requires concentration (sometimes it is difficult to find the errors between thousands of line of code), but it is the only way to check if the game is in a good condition before you all can play it.
As you can see, each step in creating a game takes time and has its own difficulty. For us, the most important thing is to make the game as good as we posibly can, so please understand it might take some time 💗 We are doing our best to bring the next update as soon as possible!
Oh! Tomorrow is a special day for the TYL family! Tomorrow’s the birthday of our dear Suho 🥳 hahaha If anyone wants to leave him a message you can do it here or through our social media, we will make sure it reaches him. We are sure that would make him really excited 🤭
And that’s all for this week's devlog! Thank you so much for supporting our work 🥰 Have a nice weekend! We’ll be back next friday.
Love ya!
Alma and Vera <3
