Many times because there are cameras, and the fact you could hide and actually choose your possible “savior” - it ended up well, Shrinkies were saved, taken to shrinking centers by their founders and they continued their lives happily.
Sometimes even bonds were formed, on the news they focused on the positive stories - a woman finds a shrunken man, takes him to the shrinking center, he grows back, they fall in love and get married, the shrinking virus version of happily ever after.
But no one talked about stories like yours, while going up the stairs in the mall you shrunk down and was stuck on a platform, you couldn’t hide, there were no cameras here, and you certainly couldn’t choose your “savior”.
So you just helplessly waited there, until you heard some steps, you noticed that there were 2 teenagers going up, you ran to the side of the platform, hoping they wouldn't notice you and just keep going, but of course it didn’t happen.
“Look!” One of them pointed at you, “another one”, she giggled.
“What a terrible place to shrink on, poor thing”, the other said, laughing as well.
“My turn, right?” The first one asked, smiling and looking at you, you started shivering, fell to your knees and begged them for help.
“Yeah sure, go for it”, the other said, taking her phone out and tapping on record.
“Here I come, little bug”, she said and walked towards you, playfully taking a step on the platform, towering above you and hovering her other shoe upon you.
“NO! NO PLEA-“*CRACK*
“Lol, that one was crispy”, she laughed, showing her sole and your crushed body to the camera.
“Oh god it will get so many likes on TikTok”, the other joined her laughter and they just kept going up the stairs like your life never really mattered.
