Doesn't it depends whether the missing person is at risk or not, though? But you do have a point. It might be better to change it to the missing report having at least been filed. Thanks for the tip!

police actually don't wait on missing person reports, even hours could mean life or death in kidnapping cases. I would suggest changing it to the police having done an investigation but ended up nowhere but you could still have the police think it's just a runaway case.
