Pin Reveal: Tora in Trans, Polyam, & LGBTQ+
🕑 Added 2024-05-27 21:25:18 +0000 UTCRecently we learned about how some trans folks in Japan like to use tigers as a symbol for the trans community. It's a pun: Tora is the Japanese word for tiger, and when you sound out "trans" in katakana it basically starts with "tora." To-ra-n-su. Many thanks to our twitter moot @MishimaKitan for cluing us in to this (you should follow them!)
The art style on this month's printed metal pin is slightly inspired by older Japanese mascots, like Torakki of Kansai's baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers. There's a dib-dab of Tezuka in there too, mixed with our own style.
Most of the details will be printed nice and matte, but the ears, mouth, and some of the other lines will be recessed and filled with soft enamel. We're excited to keep trying new things!

✦ Mailing Schedule:
We mail quarterly. This has helped us keep our tier prices low despite inflation. These "June" Tora pins are part of the "Summer Quarter" and will mail in Fall 2024, with the upcoming "July" and "August" pins.

Our store’s preorders are in progress.
Our last Kickstarter, Celestial Pride, began mailing via White Squirrel and is 2/3 done. We were originally going to take over the last 1/3rd, but due to health setbacks, we have asked White Squirrel mail the rest soon.
The Spring Quarter is in production and will mail in the Summer. It includes the Snowdrop Foxes, the Crocus Cats, and the Ferret pins.
