Sneak Peek Take Two: Kanata Yamasaki

Sorry about that. So, have the Devoted from the Extraordinary Leagues Federation. I don't think this one was shared before (currently at work, so I can't review my lists just now).
First draft, as usual. There will be changes.
Kanata Yamasaki

Background: Kanata has no memory of who she was before she joined the Superhumans League, but she’s told she was an administrative assistant at a research laboratory who moonlighted as a knife-thrower and target archer and had fantasies of wealth and fame beyond anything that seemed possible given her limited means.
Like most league graduates, Kanata Diverged on-set and received a generous initial contract. She initially specialized in target sports but has since expanded her repertoire to include “anything you can do while standing on your own two feet”. For a time, this included enhanced martial arts (EMA), but the league decided she exhibited “too much enhancement and not enough martial arts” for this work, so they pulled her from that track. However, the league recognized the potential of her Variations in less entertaining confrontations, such as when dealing with Renegades who have made a nuisance of themselves.
Appearance: Kanata is a tall Japanese woman in her mid-20s with buzzed black hair. She is muscular but usually wears loose-fitting clothes that partially mask this. She has a scar from below her right ear to her chin, which predates her Divergence. During bouts, she wears a red and white sequined top and shorts.
Roleplaying Hints: Kanata has a real passion for knife-throwing and archery and can geek out about the tools of the trade for hours – but only if someone else broaches the subject, as she seldom initiates social interactions. This is less because she is shy than that she has so little memory of her past that she doesn’t really know who she is. She has a long-standing rivalry with Angelina MacRae, a statuesque blond American woman with a Southern twang who Diverged during the same bootcamp and who is Kanata’s only Conviction Touchstone.

One aspect of these NPCs that I find somewhat unsatisfying is that there is very little explanation for their Clade and their Variations. For example, I do not understand why this particular character is a Mutant, or what caused her Divergence to begin with.

I think you need to find a better way to list Variations. Between this and the dragon from earlier, the Variations line is all but indecipherable to me, particularly whenever Cursed Flesh is involved.
